Blue Richard and the Apricots

Blue Richard and the Apricots rose out of a mutual interest in combining our classical training with our impulse to create music of our own; music without any prescribed guidelines. Rather than pay allegiance to any particular genre, we allow ourselves to dabble in the huge variety or sound that surrounds us - folk, blues, rock, classical, french chanson, country, nursery rhymes and creaky swing-sets.
We began by giving little impromptu concerts in basement suites for friends, usually as part of potluck gatherings. With an abundance of random instruments showing up and only two members of the band, we seemed to be constantly tossing instruments in a fantastic juggling event---minus any circus expertise. The result: an eclectic mix of original songs, each with its own unique texture.
Though we both write individually and with differing styes, our songwriting is similar in its attention to small moments and detail. Each song seems to carry a soul and sound world of its own.
