Biography

Formed in 1999 by Craig Gildner and Tommy Greco in Washington DC at the height of the swing dance resurgence, Blue Sky 5 has always been the real deal..no jivin! While neo swing has come and gone, we still serve up a healthy portion of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman as well as small jazz group stars from the 30's and 40's that keep the lindy hoppers moving. Craig has performed with several notable swing stars, including the Tom Cunningham Orchestra, Brooks Tegler's Big Band, Doc Scantlin's Imperial Palms Orchestra, Johnathan Stout's Campus Five, Casey McGill, and Glenn Crytzer's Syncopators. Tommy studied extensively at North Texas State, and has performed with Tom Cunningham and Bud Forest. Both are dancers too, and have a keen understanding of what keeps dancers happy. Whenever possible, we use vintage instruments and dress in the period style. It's like 1940 all over again!
