"Blurred Out – “Meadows”"

“Meadows” is the debut single from Oakland-based indie-rock quartet Blurred Out. They aptly describe their sound as “noisy but tuneful” — with fluid guitars meshing nicely with a vocal performance that upticks in pitch and intensity during the soaring chorus. Certain production choices, like the lingering guitar feedback around 01:43 and the appealing fuzz-friendly guitar emphasis around 02:40, are very well-accomplished to the point of this level of quality being a surprise for a debut single. I’d guess these guys have ample experience in the Oakland indie-rock scene based on the melodic charisma and musical chops here. Either way, Blurred Out is definitely an act to keep an ear out for, especially among fans of grunge-tinged alternative. - Obscure Sound

It’s always a real pleasure when a band you’ve never heard of sends you nice new song out of nowhere. Today I’m pleased to share with you this track “Meadows” from Oakland based group Blurred Out. It’s a loud, psych tinged rock song featuring some distorted guitars and a heavy rhythm section. They’ll be releasing this single with a B-side physically on November 4th. "Blurred Out – Betrayed By The Wind – Audio"

The US hazy-rock quartet Blurred Out release their début two track single Meadows on the 4th of November. The music, flows unhurriedly through the room as Blurred Out deliver a sound which has a grungy influence to it.

The second of the two songs on the single (available on bandcamp) Betrayed By The Wind being my pick of the release and a decent introduction to an outfit it will be interesting to follow over the years. - Emerging Indie Bands

Meadows Single (2017)

Blurred out started as a song-writing project between two coworkers with wildly different musical taste. Jeff who plays guitar and vocals grew up on lo-fi indie and psych rock and Jon, the drummer, was deep into spacey hippy rock. Jeff and Jon worked together for years before they ever played music together because neither thought the musical divide between their preferred genres could be bridged.

One night at a party Jeff and Jon started jamming and it clicked better than either of them expected. The next day they started getting together to write songs and develop the unique sound that grew out of their diverse musical backgrounds. They played a couple of gigs as a two piece where they met Kresimir (bassist) and Victor (lead guitar and vocals) who joined and further fleshed out Blurred Out's indie-psych, which combines the heavy rhythm section and crunchy guitars of 90's indie rock like Built to Spill and Stone Roses, the melodic hooks of 70's powerpop like The Heartbreakers and Big Star, and the spaced-out vibes of 60's psych like Cream and The Grateful Dead.
