Lyrics

Eternally Hip

Written By: BLVD

I don’t know what this song is about
I can’t decide when my head’s in the clouds
Like rose colored glasses on a rose colored day
She’s coming over and she’s coming to stay

Is it that?
Or is that it?
Eternally hip

I ask questions cause I’ve answered them all
I ask directions from a cop at the mall
I drive to slow and I park on the lawn
Get ready to go but I’m already gone

Is it that?
Or is that it?
I say…
Is it that?
Or is that it?
Eternally hip

I’m getting down cause I’m already high
It’s hard to breath when my Zen is on fire
Drink from the toilet cause I can’t reach the sink
My head is spinning I’ve had too much to think

Is it that?
Or is that it?
I say…
Is it that?
Or is that it?
Eternally hip

When I'm Down

Written By: BLVD

When I’m down
I hear a voice on the TV
Taunting and teasing
Reminds me…

That I’m down
And my satisfaction
Is a counter reaction
Now…so I
====================
Have a little drink
And pretend to sleep
And stop and think
Of the differences between

Me and you
Or something new
To a lesser fool

Who’s lost his way
In a haze of rain
Where it’s all the same
When I’m down
====================
When I’m down
I ask your forgiveness
You mind your own business
So that

When I’m down
It seems like a movie
Censored for TV
Now…so I
====================
CHORUS
====================
When I’m down
I have an endless occasion
To voice my frustration
(In this song)

When I’m down
I look to a measure
Of infinite pleasure
Now…so I
====================
Have a little drink
And pretend to sleep
And stop and think
Of the differences between

You and me
And how we grieve
With sympathy
For the differences between

Me and you
Or something new
To a lesser fool

Who’s lost his way
In a haze of rain
Where it’s all the same
When I’m down

Safe

Written By: BLVD

Come in my room it’s quiet there
Pass the statue at the top of the stairs
Light a candle we’ll play in the dark
I'll save you a chair with a view of the park
Talk to shadows and give them names
In this darkness we all look the same
You'll play a tiger and I'll play your fear
Remind you that nothing can threaten you here

I keep my peace when I’m hiding
Turn out the lights when it’s blinding
Nobody dies, no one’s crying
We’re friends when the end comes every day
When we’re safe

Come in my room where friendly ghosts might
Preserve your features in a daguerreotype
We’ll cover the ceilings we’ll cover the walls
With portraits of families destroyed by the war

I keep my peace when I’m hiding
Turn out the lights when it’s blinding
Nobody dies no one’s crying
We’re friends when the end comes every day
When we’re safe

I leave my woes miles behind
I shut the windows and close the blinds
I look no farther when I find
My hiding place when we’re safe

Come in my room we’ll make show and tell
I’ll show you a lily and tell you all’s well
Time as a minute and time as a day
Let’s count forever while we embrace

I keep my peace when I’m hiding
Turn out the lights when it’s blinding
Nobody dies no one’s crying
We’re friends if the end comes every day
When we’re safe
