"More than a band"

Their live show leaves audiences speechless. I am yet to encounter another musician who has seen this band and not loved them. To people who know them, the B Movie Heroes are more than a band, they are a lifestyle.
Everyone who sees them perform live gets the chance to become a part of that lifestyle for the duration of the set and is left with a feeling of witnessing something very, very special.” - Darryn Wyllie - Manager Virgin Mega Store

"Distinct Voice"

Rhys Watson has one of the most distinct voices I have heard in a long time and I have never seen a crowd not warm to their beat. Definitely one of WA’s better kept secrets and with songs like “Softcore” and “See Thru” they are sure to fire up on radio soon.” - Phillip Stevens Artist Manager The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Little Birdie

"Personal favorite"

Personally the band is a favorite amongst the crew at Sunset Events, not only as talented musicians, also the
professional manner in which they conduct themselves in their field. - David Chitty - Promoter Sunset Events

"CD review"

There's a sometimes bluesy groove to it, sometimes a little funky, but certainly a lot 70's in the mood (and the clothing) of this Perth combo. Throw in some facial hair and lyrical concerns sometimes akin to say, Machine Gun Fellatio (yes, we mean the rumpy-pumpy...) and you'll begin to get the idea.” Softcore Review Ross Clelland Drum Media (Sydney) May 2004

Bio

The B Movie Heroes burst onto the Perth music scene in later part of the year 2000 with their own blend of psychedelic easy listening tunes and a wardrobe full of outrageously ketch retro flavored outfits.

They quickly became a firm favorite to a league of punters and musicians looking for some thing a little different.

With a swag of WAMi nominations in 2001, the B Movie heroes took out a surprise win over the John Butler Trio winning both the Best Blues & Roots Artist as well as Best Live Acoustic Act. At last count the band have won 6 WAMi awards from 2001—2006.

The B Movie Heroes’ sound has evolved (or de-evolved) a lot over the years resulting in their latest album "...and the horse you rode in on" – Sept 2006

Recorded live in two takes over 5 hrs at Satellite Studio, Perth by Sparky of Birds Of Tokyo, the 13 songs are as you would hear the band on stage where the true strength and musicianship that only comes from years of playing together show through.

Now, after a 12 month hiatus and loaded with enough songs for a new album featuring new bassist Spud, formally of The Deaf Jeffries and Purvert, the Heroes return in better form than ever before.

While road testing the newer songs at Freo venues such as The Swan Basement, Railway Hotel and Clancys’ during September / October the band has had very positive feedback and have been recording the sets as pre-production for the new album which in true B Movie fashion may follow the bands devolution and end up being recorded in a shed bar room somewhere out in the sticks.

This would sit well with the bands new sound of a special blend of country punk/city & western songs to cross swamps for.
