Bo Haan is een Jongeman afkomstig uit Los Angeles die zijn voorliefde voor de jaren ’80 in zijn muziek steekt. Dit doet hij op een wel heel speciale manier! Hij maakt albums alsof de wereld in deze jaren bleef stilstaan. Hierdoor “covert” hij hedendaagse popnummers, maar steekt ze in een jaren ’80-funk kleedje. Dit gebeurt ook op zijn nieuw album “Funkified”. Nummers van onder meer Tove Lo, The Weeknd en Taylor Swift worden onder handen genomen. Buiten de tekst kan je niets meer van het origineel herkennen, want alles is inderdaad veel funkyer geworden. Bo Haan slaagt alvast in zijn opzet om de tijd te doen stilstaan, al hopen we stiekem toch op eigen nummers in de toekomst (want de interlude die hij zelf maakte klinkt veelbelovend)! Het album is alweer het tweede van de man, zijn debuut met rapper DH “Risky Business” kwam enkele maanden geleden al uit. Bo Haan = smooth grooves + pop moves.
A master of his own brand of morally-ambiguous funk-pop, Bo Haan is a solo musical artist and the gyrating half of the Los Angeles electronica duo The Blemish. In 2015, Haan self-released “Funkified” - an album of funked-up cover songs - as a semi-satirical side project poking fun at the mind-numbing simplicity of modern pop music. The album quickly gained traction in the underground electrofunk and dance community, and the groove man took the hint and followed up with a series of singles all with a unique lyrical focus on challenging traditional monogamous relationships. Since then, Haan appears to have found his niche audience and has had continued success with his formula of infectious grooves, catchy hooks, and polyamorous musings.
Bo Haan has been featured on NBC, NPR, Huffington Post, EQ Magazine, The Subject Press, and various other mainstream and independent publications.
