Bio
It all started in Salisbury, Maryland. And it kept going. It was like a ball rolling. It was like a boat full of Hercules rowers; like a stone gathering no moss whatsoever. The band’s work is a combination of chantey tales, vision, originality, and brainwash. The sounds are derived from practice, creative individuals, and heart felt collaborations.
Singer/songwriter, Jordan Williams fronts the band she named from a sign she saw while driving to drummer Peter Staubs’ former residence. Peter clicked his sticks to set the tempo for new band members. The classically trained pianist and music enthusiast, Fawn Mitchell heard early recordings of Jordan and Peter and joined, adding key momentum to the group. Bass player and enthusiast of technological and creative advancements in the development of new musical instruments, Grayson English, graced Boats to Tangier with his thoughtful, low notes. Guitar player Louis Spies flew home from California to find a new, local band to offer his talents and experienced to. And we all accepted!
We practice and perform and we have been selling the record we recorded ourselves. We have played in venues and bars in Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., Alexandria, Annapolis, and Salisbury. As well as in basements, in attics, along rivers and anyplace possible.
We recorded an eleven, track album with SummerHaus Studios, with Kyle the Awesomizer. We have songs that inspire dancing, community, ecological awareness, creativity, and wonder. We think about the importance of arts education in schools, when we aren’t thinking of what we’ll eat next. Jordan, Peter, Louis, Fawn, Grayson, and Jesse all dream of making their livings from their music and art.
We have shows to play and fans wanting satisfaction. We are thankful.
