Bobby and Suzy are a brother and sister from Charleston, South Carolina. They combine acoustic pop/folk melodies with synthesized urban beats... As expected, they define their sound as "urban acoustic."

Biography

Bobby and Suzy are Nathan and Gwyn Fowler, a brother and sister from Charleston, South Carolina. They bring together synthesized pop and acoustic folk melodies to achieve a new upbeat sound that defies the bounds of current music trends. They aim to please, and reach out to an assortment of musical tastes.

Both Nathan and Gwyn established themselves as musicians in college. While at Duke University, Nate won an MTV Woodie award in 2007 for his other project, Stella by Starlight. As Stella, he released 4 albums, toured nationally, and showcased at SXSW 2010. Before Gwyn graduated from Furman University, she was a noted singer/songwriter in the South Carolina upstate. She toured regionally in the Southeast and released a full length solo album earlier this year.

Although "Bobby and Suzy" is their first official release, the band has been in the works since 1991 when their father told bedtime stories bearing the same name. The pair would drink a magic potion allowing them to breath underwater so they could band together with their pal Flipper the Dolphin.

Fairly Cute Girl

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

It's the end of our line
From now on it's a sign
Curve your wave match my gait
You should act out of time

Saw you smiling at me
Know you want to but hey
I'll just sit here and watch

It's a so-so escape

To a fairly-cute girl
In my average world
At a so-so party
Can't decide if she saw me

But midnight's coming up
I see you sitting there alone
You got no guts, got no glory
But okay man who is she?

If I sing instead of talk would you feel that?
Would you smile if my voices cracks?
Would you laugh if I fall flat, take that

It's okay no it's alright
Fairly-cute girl you're feeling alright
Maybe if I set the mood just right
Maybe I take you home tonight

I don't mind no I don't mind when you say things
Fairly-cute girl maybe we could put out words for the night
Throw the reel out I'll take a bite

Maybe if I play my cards tonight
Maybe if I paint my face just right
Maybe if you take me home tonight
Maybe you could take me home

To a fairly-cute girl

To a fairly-cute girl in my average world
At a so-so party can't decide if she saw me
But midnight's coming up
Got no guts got no glory
But okay man who is she?

If I sing instead of talk would you feel that?
Would you smile if my voices cracks?
Would you laugh if I fall flat, take that

It's okay no it's alright
Fairly-cute girl you're feeling alright
Maybe if I set the mood just right
Maybe I take you home tonight

I don't mind no I don't mind when you say things
Fairly-cute girl maybe we could put out words for the night
Throw the reel out I'll take a bite

Maybe if I play my cards tonight
Maybe if I paint my face just right
Maybe if you take me home tonight
Maybe you could take me home

To a fairly-cute girl

Time (All That They Wanted Was)

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

I drove back to my fathers house
But now, now it's a tourist town
With emptiness on every block

I found in that old cardboard box
Those things, things that were my old thoughts
Those things, memories that I have lost

Tell the old me "I'm sorry"
I see it repeating
All my old stories
All that they wanted was

Time
(All that they wanted was, all that they wanted was)

Time
(All that they wanted was, all that they wanted was)

"u's" and "me's" that I cut and paste
Loose ends, feelings I couldn't fake
Ignore your calls to make amends

The dust kicks up around the rust
I sneeze collect my present thoughts
Our needs never grew enough

All that they wanted was
Time

And they never really mattered
No they really mattered.

Tell the old me "I'm sorry"
I see it repeating
All my old stories
All that they wanted was

Time
(All that they wanted was, all that they wanted was)

Time
(All that they wanted was, all that they wanted was)

The Tour

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

Hey hey hey girls
I've got a surprise
I've never travelled the world
I've never wondered why

So does it make any sense
Safe in the palm of your hand?
I had a moment had my woman to call me a man

Hey hey hey guy guy guy guys
Until I say my goodbyes
No need to give me the tour
I'm good at reading minds

Of all the things we can do
The mornings better with you
I wanna order some cheap food and stay in bed til 2

This is the front porch
The garage with the two cars
This is the fence round the backyard
And there's my bed -- that's where it ends
This isn't your love song
(Is this my love song?)

No it isn't your love song
Girl you've got it all wrong
Sayin "where has your love gone?"
Cus it isn't your love song

No it isn't your love song
Girl you've got it all wrong
Sayin "where has your love gone?"
Cus it isn't your love song

I saw you smiling at me
But I'll just stick to my drink
It makes me weak in the knees
Yea do the same to me please

When you walk over to me
Will you be more than a fling?
You never know but okay
Do you remember my name?

We go to all the same bars
Our friends know all the same songs
Your hair is never too long
Okay we might be wrong

But what you waiting to know
Put in your phone and call me after the show, sure
Yea? Oh, your first date but you won't go

This is the front porch
The garage with the two cars
This is the fence round the backyard
And there's my bed -- that's where it ends
This isn't your love song
(Is this my love song?)

No it isn't your love song
Girl you've got it all wrong
Sayin "where has your love gone?"
Cus it isn't your love song

No it isn't your love song
Girl you've got it all wrong
Sayin "where has your love gone?"
Cus it isn't your love song

Yea? Oh, okay. Is this my love song?

Picture Frames

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

I saw you at the mini-mall
Your southern drawl was quite severe
If I buttoned up my collar cut my hair off
Could I buy you a beer?

What can I say
What can I do
When all I want's to be with you

You think you're clever with your games
But so am I what's in the way
It's how we act in our charades
So keep it steady such a game

How do you do
I may want you
When all I want's to be with you

I'm not that very special
I'm not much of a guy
But I suck at telling lies

I'm not one for your camera
Posing -- isn't that your game?

All the same in your picture frames
All the same in your picture frames

I think you lied the other week
When you said how I made you feel
Can you play off that attraction
Can you tell me what is fake and what's real

What can I say
What can I do
When all I wan'ts to be with you

Yes I can tell you're in a rut
The words you use are full of muck
No I'm not casual with my trust
But I can promise you a rush

What can I say
What can I do
When all I want's to be with you

I'm not that very special
I'm not much of a guy
But I suck at telling lies

I'm not one for your camera
Posing -- isn't that your game?

All the same in your picture frames
All the same in your picture frames

Song for Something

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

If you want to move along
Maybe you shouldn't care so much
You're digging deep holes with those old thoughts.

Okay, I guess I see
But we've all fallen down to things
And even the closed-off scrape their knees.

Alright okay, I'm vulnerable
Your needs their lost, their lost on me sorry.
(I'm sorry)

So what I think I know it all
You placed the blame you put it on me, I'm sorry.
(You put it on me)

Do you see it in me?
Do you see it in me?

A song for something.

The days go on repeat
You kick but they wind up on the beat
I watch and I press on with my feet.

Well oh, I guess you know
That you've got sandspurs on your soles
Do you like how your minor pain it shows?

Alright okay, I'm vulnerable
Your needs their lost, their lost on me sorry.
(I'm sorry)

So what I think I know it all?
You placed the blame, you put it on me
(You put it on me)

I'm sorry.

Do you see it in me?
Do you see it in me?

Alright okay, I'm vulnerable
Your needs their lost, their lost on me sorry.
(I'm sorry)

So what I think I know it all?
You placed the blame, you put it on me
(You put it on me)

A song for something.

Vampire

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

Dim the lights and count to ten
Get so close we're whispering
Nobody cares they're wasted

Can you forget about your friends
Acting out what's in my head
Nobody cares we're wasted

We could pretend we were vampires
Going out when the sun won't shine
We could pretend we were outlaws
We could look for a place to hide

We could pretend we were younger
You and me could play house all day
If I pretend that you're with me
Would you come out and play?

Dance around you won't play fair
You got the devil in your hair
But nobody cares they're wasted

What to say and what to wear
They're living underneath the stairs
But nobody cares they're wasted

We could pretend we were vampires
Going out when the sun won't shine
We could pretend we were outlaws
We could look for a place to hide

We could pretend we were younger
You and me could play house all day
If I pretend that you're with me
Would you come out and play?

Sinkhole

Written By: Nate and Gwyn Fowler

Wander the streets lined palm to palm
Maybe it will rain or maybe it won't
I smile yea I smile ride on

But I don't know anyone

When you hesitate it feels so good
And if you close your eyes it feels like it should
Everybody's perfect where to begin
Going out never felt so in

Are we all on our own?
In a sinkhole
Could it be you and me?
All on solid ground

Me and you made the news
We're in a sinkhole
Are we up are we down?
It feels like solid ground

Look at me look at them
We act so cool
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Could it be all of them
Well yea me too
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Look at me look at them
We act so cool
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Could it be all of them
Well yea me too
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Guess we're in it all the same
Think I'm ahead when I've lost the game
I wake up yea I wake up each day
Think to myself it's all okay

I got you all tied up
I got your back
Do I pull the trigger
Get away in the van?

Grow your face out
To feel like a man
Going down never felt like a plan

Are we all on our own?
In a sinkhole
Could it be you and me?
All on solid ground

Me and you made the news
We're in a sinkhole
Are we up are we down?
It feels like solid ground

Look at me look at them
We act so cool
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Could it be all of them
Well yea me too
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Look at me look at them
We act so cool
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school

Could it be all of them
Well yea me too
I wish I had someone to hi-five in school
