"One of Will's"

…and now for an after dinner late, LATE night snack...Bobby Bookout! Now that was a kick ass opening to the set, fast and fun, hot damn I wish my wife was here (she would've died with all the damn cigarette smoke though). I remain thoroughly impressed as it was pretty damn near a packed house and as soon as Bobby hit the stage there was actually a push forward. WTF?!?
The lead guitar seemed to have that Memphis blues sound as he played some of his licks and as I sat there looking around at everyone enjoying the music, I came to the stark realization that this is just simply BAD ASS date music. Now hear my out before you laugh to hard (and before you get pissed Bobby), but it's like this...dinner, maybe a movie, and then a nice live performance, "warm it up before you take it home" kind of music, ha! There I said it!
It's rocking enough for the guys to like and smooth enough to make all the ladies squeal and yell. Bobby even has a couple of pantie droppers in his repertoire, and I am telling you all the ladies were on the dance floor, down in front dancing and swinging away. This was repeated a second time right at the end of the set and this time the ladies were dragging the men out onto the floor and grinding it out. NOW do ya see what I mean by "date music". OOOHHH I wish my wife had made this show.
Thanks Bobby Bookout, look forward to the next one. I think i'll take a date and we'll have dinner on our way to the show ;-)

"InSite Magazine's Sean Claes reviews Bobby's debut"

"Bobby’s a powerhouse of a singer with an easy to listen to, JasonMraz-meets-Maroon5 voice. He penned the bulk of the songs & they are as complex lyrically as the wonderful music each track features. Each of the 14 tracks on this release has a unique feel, perfect to showcase his vocals. The 1st 3, each a big musical departure, seem to set the pace. The album kicks off with the U2esque “Never Say Goodnight” then into “Remedy,” a song that reminds me of Santana/Rob Thomas’s “Smooth”. 3rd up is the stripped down acoustic heartbreak ballad “Meant To Be.” Bobby gives a shoutout to the town he’s called home since 2007 in “Austin.” “Tanjentz” is a mid-paced bluesy jam about love that strikes like a match. “Broken Promises” & “Last Words” are slow ballads that remind me of Austin’s The Will Evans Project. Although each song seems to flow in a different direction, it is apparent that it all comes from the same source in this mighty good hour-long listen."

Bio

Bobby Bookout is a singer/songwriter based out of Austin Texas. He grew up in the country outside a small town in South Texas called Carrizo Springs. He served over 10 years in the United States Navy and used his Montgomery GI Bill to obtain a degree in Commercial Music from South Plains College in Levelland Texas. In 2007, upon graduation from SPC, he moved to Austin to begin work on his self titled debut album which was released in June of 2010. Bobby's music is crafted outside 'the box'. As both a singer and songwriter he remains extremely versatile stylistically. From one song to the next; he gracefully crosses the spectrum of genres, weaving them together with his own unique thread of continuity. While this makes it difficult at times to label and market his music, it also gives him the ability to appeal to multiple demographics and he's done just that with this debut.
No corners were cut in it's production. Notable players included: Brannen Temple (Janet Jackson, Chaka Kahn, Gavin DeGraw, Eric Johnson), Chris Maresh (Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Michael McDonald), Anthony Farrell (The Greyhounds), Jose Galeano (Grupo Fantasma), Steve Williams (Marcia Ball), etc... It was produced and recorded by Scott Faris (Amusement Park Studio, Lubbock, TX) and Bobby himself, at both Studio 1916 in Kyle, TX and The Amusement Park, and mastered by Scott Hull (Masterdisk, NYC).
Bobby performs in Austin and all over Texas with his band and is currently working on his second album. News, updates, and tour schedules can be found on his website at www.bobbybookout.com
