Bio

In an industry overflowing with entertainers from the most prestigious cities in the world, 23 year old Jerene (Bobby Boondocks) Makia embarked on his musical journey from a much humbler arena. The native of Magnolia Arkansas, a small agricultural town, first chose to pursue his education by graduating from the University of Central Arkansas Honors College with a degree in business finance and becoming one of the youngest African American Financial Analysts for Windstream Communications in Little Rock, Arkansas.

During his time in college Bobby Boondocks became the first artist and co-founder of Southern Gentlemen Entertainment Music and Event Promotion. He also became an affiliate of Greenwood Studios. With the release of his eclectic first album, Introduce Yourself, and the success of his playful single, “It’s Magic,” Bobby Boondocks appealed to various age groups and ethnicities. This album gained him six different nominations in the First Annual Arkansas Urban Music Awards, including nods for Best Hip Hop Artist, Best Album, and Alternative Rocker of the Year.

As both an artist and business man, Bobby Boondocks strives to make music that is enlightening, entertaining, comedic, and socially conscious. He is influenced by a wide range of artists from Kanye, Tupac, Lupe, and Lauren Hill to Cee-Lo Green, Maroon 5, and Justin Nozuka. Bobby attributes his imaginative song selection, vivid wordplay, and southern references to his country upbringing and the thirst for knowledge that his parents instilled in him at a young age. He has devoted his next few projects to his pursuit of creativity, blending diverse musical styles and genres with the rap and R&B that his fans have been accustomed to. His new mixtape series, "Dreamin", will be a testament to this goal with its mix of hip-hop, reggae, classical, rock, contemporary, and even country music. He also continues to devote a large amount of his time to writing and producing songs for other artists.
