Ryerson review
Category: News and Politics
I just attended Bobby Dreadfull and the Breastfed Superheroe's performance at Ryerson . It was put on for the interior design students who were graduating. There was alot of energy in the air and the crowd was hyped. I remember the guitarist's screaming solos and the antics of the trumpet player/break dancer. The drummer and bassist provided a solid back bone to the whole performance. There were elements of rock , funk and even house present. I can say from having seen this and other performances the effect on the crowd is one of bewonderment . Another performance at the Townhouse in Sudbury comes to mind. The crowd was enraptured and captivated by the pulsating rythms. They were all dancing around in seeming ecstasy, screaming and clawing at the frontmen and other band members. If you see them once you'll likely be hooked. The band for the event at Ryerson was made up of Bobby Dreadfull and the Breastfed Superheroes (Garfield - vocals, Mike - Drums , Yoser - Bass, Malik - Guitar, Nick - Keyboard, Pete - Trumpet).Check them out!

Bio

Bobby Dreadfull is one of the most electrifying performers to hit the stage. Dreadfull's show is comparable to artists such as James Brown, Lenny Kravitz or Prince- high falsetto, unbridled energy, and crazy dance moves! He performs an all original funk/reggae/ rock fusion set that flows seamlessly through musical genres and is guaranteed to move any audience.
The worldbeat sensation has played hundreds of shows & recently headlined the infamous Lula Lounge and Yonge and Dundas Square in Toronto, which were very well attended(capacity crowds, 300 to 5000 respectively) and had music fans buying out all available CD's and t-shirts. The shows have incredibly high energy and 'captivate audiences from beginning to end.'
Bobby Dreadfull was born in Toronto to a Jamaican father and Euro/Canadian mother and his muisc reflects his diverse background fusing genres which appeal to a large cross-section of people.
"... it's cool 'cause you guys had everyone dancing, from little kids to senior citizens..." (Global Grooves Festival-YD Square Coordinator).
With the help of his professional, multi-cultural band dubbed the Breastfed Super Heroes which includes heavy-hitters such as Malik Worthy (Esthero, Brittany Spears, K-OS) JeremyElliott (Staggered Crossing) Eli Mullin (Funk All-Stars), Joaqin Hidalgo (Diana Krall, Dirty Dancing), Yoser Rodriguez (Alex Cuba), Omar Martinez (Ivanni Santilli, Jacksoul)
Dreadfull has been ripping up spots with recent shows at the NXNE festival, Canadian Music Week Festival, 3 appearances on national t.v live on Breakfast Television (Toronto City TV), Afriikadey Festival(Calgary), and more... all with overwhelming response.
Dreadfull is planning to tour this spring &spread the words of luv n funk. His recently completed album is called Wonderful World, including the soon to be released single Exotic Sugar a bangin funk/rock pop tune supported by a sexy, fairytale type video shot by award-winning director George Vale (Sum41, Feist, Rolling Stones) and directed by Dreadfull. The song has huge high-rotation potential
for both t.v. and radio and has all the ingredients for success. It is the third song by Dreadfull supported by an award- winning music video you can download or watch on MUCHMUSIC.
Also get ready for the upcoming single 'Oh No' featuring Juno winner Konvict Music recording artist Kardinal Offishall!
For many years Bobby D has been producing different genres of music for various artists. He was the key producer at the Lions Den studio working with artists such as Godzilla, Cooljuice Luvchild, K-OS, Andrew Whiteman (Broken Social Scene), and Kardinal Offishall.
" I just want to make music that inspires the whole world to dance together and to see everyone smiling"... a mission accomplished after every high-energy show the band performs.
