Bio

Bobbye “Doll” Johnson

Born Bobbie Jean Nix to Ollie and Betty McNeil Nix, Bobbye was brought into the world by a midwife in the Livingston University Hospital Cuba, Alabama. Bobbye lived in Meridian, Mississippi half her life. As a young girl, Bobbye was too shy to sing, never knowing the God given talent hidden within her. Inspired to express her emotions from failed relationships as well as successful ones, came her first hits, "Been There And Done That" and "Saving My Love".

Bobbye was inspired by artists such as Betty Wright, Millie Jackson, Lynn White, Aretha Franklin, Patti La-Belle, Anita Baker, Bonnie Raitt, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and others.

Bobbye opened and sang background for Stan Mosley, "Don't Make Me Creep," and "Rock Me" in 1998 and 1999. In 2000, her second hit CD, "Let The Doorknob Hit Ya" was over-shadowed by the deaths of her parents, oldest brother and sister and a failed marriage. Bobbye then took time off from the industry to heal with the help of her remaining eleven siblings.

Her hit CD in 1999, "Let The Doorknob Hit Ya!"went commercial radio in 2006 and #5 on the blues station WSSD 98.5 FM in Chicago.
Bobbye currently resides in Atlanta, Ga. Bobbye's soulful, sassy, and sexy style has been captivating audiences nation-wide and around the world.
Bobbye, as the CEO of her own production company (Music Soul Productions), has worked with artists such as Mel Waiters, Marvin Sease, Stan Mosley Willie Clayton, Theodis Ealey, Willie Hill, O.B. Buchanan, Bobby Rush and Louisiana's own "Bad Boy of Southern Soul", Mr. T.K. Soul.

Well, after a long hiatus, Bobbye is back on the scene with her new CD release entitled, “Rocking This Boat". This phenomenal release has gone commercial radio and has remained there for over a year. The CD garnered Bobbye distinction as nominee for "Best New Southern Soul Artist of the Year – Female, with Jus' Blues Music Awards held in Memphis, Tennessee in 2008. It was also listed in the Top 20 Blues Critic report for the better part of two months!

Bobbye says, "I love my fans and I hope you enjoy the Album. Thank You and God Bless!!!!!
