Bio

Skinny (My friend Skinny) was born in the summer of 2002 when Bobby Mac's 4 year old nephew introduced him to Skinny. Skinny was certainly one of the most unusual people that Mac had ever met. He was 18 and in grade 3, tall as a pine tree, wild and free.

The one challenge you have when you are 4 years old, especially if you have a bigger brother and sister, is that you know that you are going to grow up. And that could mean losing touch with a friend like Skinny. All of us want a little “Skinny” after watching the nightly news.

One day Mac's entire family - sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws, and mom and dad went for lunch at the Elk Horn Ranch- a country club nestled in the heart of a national park. Then it happened. The waitress asked: “Will Skinny be joining you?” Mac's nephew gasped because even he was beginning to question the existence of Skinny. But she was a friend of Skinny! Needless to say, the waitress was awarded a big fat tip.

That summer night, Bobby Mac strummed a few chords on his guitar- Within 15 minutes, My Friend Skinny was written. Not bad for someone who played in the “B” band, 3rd part, last chair.

The song was played to Sami "Wonder" Ghawi of Fusion Presents- and the wheels were in motion to make a demo. A surprise visit from Dave White to the studio and voila - harmonica was added.

Skinny was produced by the multi-platinum producer Karl Wolf and Sami. Neil "Angus" Willoughby came up with a bluesy riff, and Dave harmonized with the harmonica. Together the group nailed what the song is supposed to sound like. Happy and fun. Light and a lot silly.

My Friend Skinny is dedicated to every one who has a sense of humor and an imagination.
