BandFolkChildren's Music

I'm a music teacher who writes songs for kids- particularly for kids in kindergarten through middle school. My songs are based on things going on with the kids or things they're interested in . Most of the recorded songs have banjo, guitar and mandolin accompaniment, all played by me.

Biography

I've been a professional musician for about 40 years, since I started as a tuba player and Music Ed major in college. After many years of playing tuba in everything from jazz bands to German "oom-pah" bands to symphony orchestras and brass choirs, I took up bagpipes, becoming a solo piper for all sorts of events and began composing bagpipe tunes, publishing a collection of 100 original tunes "From Other Shores" in 2003. In 2005 I attended a Teaching Guitar workshop in order to start a guitar class in my middle school. The following year I had a close encounter with a five string banjo in a bluegrass workshop for teachers which started me on what appears to be a life long relationship with banjo and traditional American Music. The banjo came into my life just in time as my new teaching assignment included classroom music with kindergarten and first grade students in addition to the band, chorus and guitar classes I had been teaching in the middle school. It was not long before the kids inspired me to make up songs, sometimes on the spot, about something going on in the classroom or something they were studying about.

Lyrics

I'm Losing A Tooth

Written By: Robert G Cameron

There's something wiggling in my mouth,
A tooth is getting loose.
I try hard not to play with it,
But it's just no use.

My tongue keeps poking and pushing it,
And moving it North and South.
My baby teeth are leaving me
To make room in my mouth

Chorus:
I'm losing a tooth,
I'm losing a tooth,
It's just a part of growing up,
It's natural, that's the truth.
I'll soon have all my grown up teeth,
But that may take a while.
'Til then I'll be adorable,
With a hole in the middle of my smile.

My friends are wigglin' and gigglin'.
They're losing their teeth too.
We should ask our moms and dads;
They'll know what to do.

Some start losin' them from on top,
And some from underneath.
It's just a part of Nature's plan
To lose our baby teeth.

Chorus:
I'm losing a tooth,
I'm losing a tooth,
It's just a part of growing up,
It's natural, that's the truth.
I'll soon have all my grown up teeth,
But that may take a while.
'Til then I'll be adorable
With a hole in the middle of my smile.

'Til then I'll be adorable
With a hole in the middle of my smile.
