Bio

Bob grew up in the 70s and 80s in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and began performing music as the lead guitarist for a top 40 cover band, The Rhythm Doctors, in the late 90s, in Raleigh NC. From there, he and 3 friends formed the hard rock/R&B project Kernel Mustard in 2000, which he led and was the primary song-writer for. After performing in the Raleigh-Durham NC area for 4 years, Kernel Mustard disbanded, and Bob launched a solo career.

Bobs range of musical influences is wide and varied, and includes Glen Phillips/Toad the Wet Sprocket, Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, The Beatles, America, David Gray, Kansas, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Pearl Jam, 10,000 Maniacs, Phish, Nancy Griffith, The Doobie Brothers, Live, the Jayhawks, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, the Grateful Dead, The Eagles, Yes, Ben Folds Five, and Sheryl Crow. As a guitarist, Bob has had the chance (almost serendipitously) to study under such masters as Jimmy Herring (Allman Brothers, The Dead), Scott Sawyer (Nina Freelon), Ed Stephenson (Meredith College Classical Guitar Program), and Harold Green (North Carolina Central University Jazz Program, Gradys Hat), resulting in a very eclectic playing style. Bobs guitar work is a dynamic, expressive blend of alternating picking and syncopated strumming that often employs an unusual, beautiful dissonance approach to chord selection. His voice is stirring, rangy, and emotive, exuding the kind of feeling that only comes from bare sincerity.
