"Spotlight by Al Peach"

"Halperin is a master slide player..his instrument of choice is a National steel guitar and he plays it so sweetly you could cry!!" - Portsmouth Herald

"Artsbeat"

"Rolling bass notes sound deep and hollow. The slide runs down the strings like icy fingers down a spine, pulling some harsh and stinging notes from his metal bodied guitar."
"this music deserves to be listened to...."
- The Seacoast Times

Bio

After starting play guitar at an early age, Bob came to country blues in his early teens after meeting and hearing Roy Book Binder. He studied with Rev. Gary Davis and began playing in coffeehouses while still in high school

. While living in Cambridge Mass. in the late '70, Bob was a regular at the legendary Harvard Square venue, The Idler, along with friends Patty Larkin, Paul Rishell, and Geoff Bartley, and others. He also hosted the Monday night Open Hoots, encouraging and nurturing many musicians emerging from that fertile scene.

In the late '80s and '90s, Bob was in the musician's mecca of Portsmouth, NH. In addition to much solo playing he worked with many other musicians in various combinations and bands, electric and acoustic including the Kevin Sysyn Band, his fondly remembered jug band, Homeless Bob and the Livingroom Gypsies, and the Bob Halperin Trio.

In 1997 Bob recorded his first solo CD, All Kinds of Blues, Produced by his good friend, the legendary Jamie Brockett. In addition, Bob has recorded with Orrin Star, Cozy Sheridan, Karl Conrad, Bob Holmes, Jerry Short, Kim Wallach, The Dandy Brothers, Joe LaMay and Sherry Reese, and former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich. Also he appeared on the gospel slide guitar companion, Working on a Building.
