Bettin' on a Goodbye

Written By: Bob Kamler

Got a twenty on you that you're sittin' in Baton Rouge
You're shooting tequila with your sister Rose
You're last thought is me and you're too blind to see
What might be in the shadows

I got a fifty there's a man just inches from your spray tanned band
He's talkin 'bout takin' you for a ride
No need for fancy dinners ya'all just head out to the river
You call me at nine to tell me Denver's fine

Well I'm bettin' on a goodbye
Yeah fate stacked the deck on my side
Winning is easy when you know the lie
Yeah I'm betting on a goodbye

Got a hundred dollar bill down on Red 13 at the roulette wheel
Now how did I know just which spot to fill
'Cause suspicions been running strong since business took you last fall
Now a chance encounter just dropped the ball

So I'm collecting my winnings getting a trailer and packin' your stuff in it
By midnight I'll drop it in your mamas drive
When you arrive like nothing's wrongs girl I'll be humming that exact same song
With a cute little blonde warmin' my side
With a sweet little blonde that was priced just right

And I'm betting on a goodbye
Yeah fate stacked the deck on my side
Winning is easy when you know the lie
I'm betting on a good bye
Yeah I'm all in on this goodbye

Moonbeams

Written By: Bob Kamler

Moon beams
Trickling through the limbs and the leaves
Dancing with the air that we breathe
On the outskirts of town

Moon beams
And all the night life listening
As we tell each other our dreams
With the windows rolled down

Moon beams
Simple as a country scene
Shadows cast like an old movie screen
Through our lost and found

Moon beams
Our words melt to whispering
Than just the sound of two heart beats
As our feet leave the ground

And since I grew so busy I'd have never conceived
That I'd feel again like I was seventeen
But this old grin is wider than the seas that they lead
I am higher than those moon beams

Moon beams
They're sinkin low with far too much speed
That red sun just brings drama and greed
And we'll have to leave

Moon beams
They're fading fast as I beg and I plead
As an angel sleeps so innocently
Her cheek on my sleeve

Since I grew so lonely I'd have never believed
That I'd feel again like I was seventeen
But this old grin is wider than the seas that they lead
And I am higher than those moon beams
I am higher than those moon beams

Summer Winds

Written By: Bob Kamler

Slow dancing on the hardwoods under a tender candle flame
Swaying to the rhythm denim on cotton and lace
Impaired by White Zinfandel and a starlight serenade
To her it's magic but to me it's just a game

A sudden breeze twists and teases the dust laden drapes
I feel the air's a shiftin' as our hearts begin to race
Like the shutters she too flutters with the love we start to make
It's comin' down as we're going round in a chance she had to take

The lightning flashes on two shadows in a musty room
The thunder crashes with my every move
And then the rain is gonna wash away my conscience again
In the summer wind

On the dresser lied a letter that said they called me in to work
From tucked up in the timberline I spied her leaving wearing my shirt
Her brown eyes soon will dry like this old Missouri dirt
'Cause mine are blind as my ways are wild when the clouds begin to turn

The lightning flashes on two shadows in a musty room
The thunder crashes with my every move
And then the rain is gonna wash away my conscience again
In the summer wind

And then the rain is gonna wash away my conscience again
In the summer wind

Shining Down

Written By: Bob Kamler

Beside a sunset in the early fall
As the crimson was rusting off
The leaves shimmering in the breeze

The backdrop of a brilliant blue
Was slipping towards a slivered moon
Framing the colors sent by you

I rest my eyes towards a memory
And wrap myself in past imagery
And I breathe beneath this grand old tree

And it's alright now
As your light is shining down

I run my hand where we carved our names
Years below the blues and grays
Before we'd know that things could change

I felt you with me like a perfect dream
Swaying slowly on that old tire swing
Gently rockin beneath your wings

And it's alright now
As your light is shining down

Yeah it's alright now
'Cause your light is shining down
