In a word, Bob Keel is real. He writes from the heart. He writes what he sees. It is untainted and sometimes not pretty. He’s writes of love like it was just discovered yesterday and his songs have a way of penetrating down to your very soul. They are soothing sometimes and at other times cutting. His sound is like if Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley, and The Avett Brothers were fuzed together in a freak nuclear accident and then wrote a song. Bob is a story teller for those in need of tale.

Biography

Bob has been writing music for 12 years or approximately 7 thick journals worth of music. He started writing when he first picked up the one string guitar he had when he was 7. His music maturity grew when, at 18, a member of his mom's church gave him a classical guitar. It was then his love affair with music solidified. He went on to write hundreds of songs for albums of his own and ones that will never see the light of day. He is a truly prolific artist, who has shared the stage with Michael Glabicki (Rusted Root,) Jimi Haha (Jimmie’s Chicken Shack), The Clarks, The Hillbillie Gypsies, Larry Keel, and The Recipe

In 2004, while running an open mic in his home town, he joined up with his first successful band Emmitt Kellar. Together they released two EP's and one full length album. In 2008, Emmitt Kellar had an amicable break up so they could all pursue their creative interests. Now Bob finds himself back to square one: Himself, his guitar, and a down right insatiable love for writing songs that get stuck in your head. In 2006, Bob started the very successful Stonewalls Acoustic Series designed to bring marquee artists to small venues so the fans could connect in a way that larger venues couldn’t offer. Bob currently resides in his native West Virginia, where he hosts an open mic every Sunday at Stonewalls Underground Pub (Shepherdstown, WV.) which is aired on on 89.7 FM WSHC. In addition, the last Sunday of every month in 2011 is Songwriters' Sunday at the open mic. You can check out the details on that here.

Lyrics

Hold Me

Written By: Bob Keel

I'm young enough to be happy
but sometimes I feel really sad
And I don't know my path now exactly
but I can't turn away from my past

I don't know what to expect
Each day when I open my eyes
And the feelings I can't ressurect
They all wither away and die.

Chorus:
So hold me, hold me
The wind's coming now to blow me
Away from nothing
Or something I just can't put my finger on
And just like that I'm gone

Darkness can't defeat light
For the essence of light is fire
And sometimes the darkness you fight
It clouds you with desire

And some say that love makes you weak
Well I say that love makes you strong
And if you don't like the answers you seek
Well maybe you're questions are wrong.

Chorus
Just like that we're gone

All life is filled with loss
Especially when love is your guide
But when playing we all know the cost
Still I think I'll give it a try

Cause I don't know where I'm going
But I sure know where I've been
And I don't care what I'm doing
As longs as it's with my friends

Chorus
But just like that
in a moment, in a second, in a lifetime,
We're gone
We're gone

High

Written By: Bob Keel

I like the way you brush your hair
I like to listen to you breathe
I like the way you stop and stare
Before you say you gotta leave
I like the movies that you watch
You like the songs that I sing
I declare I like everything about you

I like the funny things you do
When you're lying next to me
I like the way you tell the truth
Even when it's kind of bleak
It's the funny things you go
That makes me feel like I should sing
I declare I like everything about you

So girl, when you hold me close
I get to feeling like I'm high
And when I'm with you
That's when I feel the most like I could fly
I could fly, I could fly, I could fly
You make me high

I like the star light in your eyes
When you're telling me your dreams
I like the way you do what's right
It makes you seem like you've got wings
It's the way you do what's right
Makes me wish that you're my wife
I declare, I need you tonight

So girl, when you hold me close
I get to feeling like I'm high
And when I'm with you
It's when I feel the most like I could fly
I could fly, I could fly, I could fly,
You make me fly, you make me fly,
You make me fly
You make me high

Gypsy Girl

Written By: Bob Keel

Gypsy girl with golden locks of hair
Tell me how you move like you’re walking on the air
Tell me all the secrets you hide beneath your smile
Take a little time and walk with me a while

I will go any place you choose
I’d walk a million miles as long as it’s with you
Go pack a bag; I’ll check the oil
We’ll ride into the sunset
We’ll conquer the world

She said tell me boy where you been so long
I’ve been waiting here for hours writing this here song
About a love, the secret of my smile
Honey, I got the time so won’t you walk with me a while

I will go any place you choose
I’d walk a million miles as long as it’s with you
I’ll pack a bag; you check the oil
We’ll ride into the sunset
We’ll conquer the world

Miles and miles of road
Carry us to the unknown

I will go any place you choose
I’d walk a million miles as long as it’s with you
We’ll pack a bag; we’ll check the oil
We’ll ride into the sunset
We’ll conquer the world
