Bio

I’ve been a professional musician since 1964. I earned an RIAA-Certified Gold Record for playing drums on Freddy Fender's “Wasted Days & Wasted Nights" in 1975. In the 80’s I received two more RIAA-Certified Gold Records while working with the Swiss metal band KROKUS.

I graduated from Draughon’s School of Broadcasting in 1968 and after passing his FCC Third Class Engineers License he began my career as a radio announcer at KOTN in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. While in broadcasting I helped pioneer what was to become "AOR" (Album Oriented Rock) radio throughout the early 70's on KWHN-AM and KMAG-FM, broadcasting to a 5-state area from Ft. Smith, Arkansas. During those years I also started a concert production company and produced concerts with such acts as Black Oak Arkansas, Trapeze, Sugarloaf, Mitch Ryder & Detroit, and the Box Tops, among others. It was also in Ft. Smith that I began my career as an audio recording engineer.

In 1976, I moved back to my hometown of Mountain Home to fulfill a lifelong dream of having my own recording studio. I have over 20 artists on my own independent record label and have maintained a music publishing affiliation with BMI for over 30 years.

As a writer, I have covered various topics in the audio and video field for several nationally distributed trade magazines. My monthly column “News From The Woods” has been in publication since the 80’s and has been online since the mid-90’s. I am also a Beta tester for many software companies that specialize in audio and video products.

At 61, I’m not slowing down, and continues to play in my band “Spilt Milk” in my spare time.
