Bob Lachman

BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

I do bluesy funky folk rock. My songs run from topical to sensual and come from deep inside. I have a strong voice and write challenging and intelligent lyrics. My aim is to make people think and groove at the same time.

Biography

I am a a singer-songwriter who plays on his own and with a lady named Annie Fox who sings with me on many songs. My influences are Elvis, Dylan, The Beatles, Richie Havens, Sam Cooke and too many other musicians to list here. I have a lyrical and vocal style that is my own with a rhythmic guitar style that can be mellow or funky, depending on the songs.
I started writing songs back in the late sixties, had an Ep that went to #10 on the European charts in the 60s called 'Laughing Boy' on Riviera Records and another song called 'Christmas in My Pants' on Mother Records in England that was banned. I travelled all over and played shows in lots of places in the 70s. Had a band called Filthy Rich in the 80s that played gigs in and around New York City but never went national. Took a long hiatus in the 90's got married, divorced, got custody of my two children and brought them up in upstate NY. Got back into playing live recently, have been very well-received in the Mid-Hudson Valley area of NY and am in the process of recording my first CD.

Satisfy You

Written By: Robert Lachman

Satisfy You
1

I'll give up the booze, I'll give up the drugs,
I'll give up my world if that's not enough
To satisfy you, what will Satisfy You?
2
I'll bungee jump off a cliff without any cord,
Stand naked in a bullring until I get gored,
Just for you, it's all I want to do
Cross my heart and hope to die, these things I'll do...
If you will satisfy me too
3

I'll give up my life, I'll clean up the mess,
I'll upload my heart and download my breath,
Just for you, so I can Satisfy You. 4

I'll give up the pills, I'll give up the grass,
Drink only white wine, kiss only your ass,
That's what I'll do to Satisfy You..
Cut my throat, slash my wrists,
These things I'll do, if you will satisfy me too.
Bridge:
All I want to do is satisfy you,
So I can hear you say you love me.
Kiss me once, kiss me twice;
Come on baby don’t be cold as ice and Stop making me crazy,
Stop making me crazy, and satisfy me now..........

{repeat 1st verse & chorus)

Prisoner's Tune

Written By: robert lachman

The Prisoner's Tune----

1

The birds are singing in the trees outside,
Some croak low but most stay high.
All can come and go as they please,
Lord I wish I was up in those trees.

2

The sun may be shining but I don't know,
There's a black smoke screen set across my window
Flowers shall bloom and lovers pledge rings,
Lord I wish you'd give me back my wings.

Chorus: I'm just a doneover Prisoner man,
Rattling my chains with overdone hands.
Hear me at night, baying at the moon
And listen to my prisoner's tune.

3

My woman sleeps on a bed of ferns;
Her whole being shattered by the way mine burns.
Some burns are slight, others third degree, A world in chains hates to see a world that’s free, free, free!!

Bridge:I'm just a prisoner in myself, a prisoner in this place we all hide; I'm just a prisoner in this cell:
Handcuffs bite the wrists of the prisoner... repeat chorus- and fade--

On Summer Mornings

Written By: robert lachman

On Summer Mornings

1

On summer mornings when I rise,

There’s no such thing as dreams.

Your sunlight breathes upon my side

your infinity brings me peace.

I fling the open door out wide

To the warmth of a human sun

and rush into your arms....as fast as one can run-

on summer mornings.

2

On summer rivers that I ride

The water’s ever deep.

Your planet’s spin your clouds subside,

your blue skies bring release.

I wash the spray out from my eyes

with a caress from your waist length hair

and laugh about the good times....

in love without a care- on summer mornings.

Bridge: On summer mornings love flows through like wine.

In our bottle we’re confined to the lasting laze
of the summertime.

3

On summer evenings we have time

to roll on the beach having fun.

It’s too bad that in the daytime

we cannot roll in the sun.

We brush the sandflies from our skin

with a sweep from trembling hands

and hope to swim in the ocean...but fall back onto the sand

until the morning—On summer mornings.

So Small

Written By: Bob Lachman

So Small

Have you heard the news?

1

Things are rotten in the world outside

America has lost its mind.
I feel so small
Looks like Rome is going to fall.

2

Everywhere you look, you know it’s bombs away

Too bad, too bad fear has won the day
I feel so small
We need a revolution, that’s all.

I often feel we’re bigger than that
But what to do?
If you’re too fat to stand up and talk back
They’ll bury you … so what you got to lose … there’s
No room left for you
To stay small.

Have you read the news?

3

They’ve got Tasers ready when you open your mouth

Strange fruit still hangs from trees in the south,
I feel so small,
Is there no hope for us all?
4

Our jobs are owned by the Red Chinese

Wal-Mart nation keeps us poor and on our knees,
So they feel tall
And keep the rest of us small.

Chorus: The smaller you are the bigger you’ll get
When you see through
The big fat pile of stinking lies that have been fed to you
Since you were two, what you gonna do? The hammer’s going to fall,
Stop being so small.

Bridge: The status quo is all we see
From war and peace to energy
The more we shop
The more we’re free
But what about the inner ‘we?’
They say you can’t be a winner
If you cut and run
When your power only comes
From the barrel of a gun
Religion keeps you guilty
So you pay your tithe
To sin another day in another disguise
And that ain’t all
Stop being so small

Have you seen the news?

5

While our government grovels at the corporate gate

We all live in a fascist state
I feel so small
Fat lazy and stupid, that’s all.

6

True change can come from the palm of your hand

In the gifts you give to your fellow man
I feel so small
And I (we) don’t like it at all.

Chorus: It’s up to you to change the world
And no one else
But you can’t help nobody
Until you help yourself
There’s no one else, you better stand tall, or they’ll make you crawl
Stop being So Small

Bridge 2:
I want to wake up in the morning
With the sun in my eyes.
I don’t want to live my life
Being Hypnotized
I don’t believe in heaven, I don’t believe in sin
I don’t believe in wars we can never win.
I’m sick of living in a country
Where wrong is right
Where the poor stay poor
And the rich have all the might
When will we ever see the light
And Stop Being So Small?

Looks like Rome is going to fall …

Windy Roads

Written By: Bob Lachman

WINDY ROADS

1

As we’re walking down the windy roads,

We wish we were in sailing boats.

And when and if we brave the sea

The sky is where we’d rather be.

I stubbed a toe on every stone,

Maybe I’ll die from an overdose--

Windy roads on land and sea

Gave birth to the hurricane inside of me!

How far should we go?

Walking down the windy roads.

2

As dawn breaks over the windy roads,

We wish for night to hold us close,

And when and if our wish comes true,

We wish we’d wished for something new.

I broke my heart while the wind did blow,

I walked on rocks and cobblestones...

My bloodied feet and broken bones

Told a tale of living on the Windy Roads.

Which direction should we go?

Running down the windy roads.

Windy Roads and a shot of gin

Who’s gonna lose and who’s gonna win?

We’re all gonna die before most of us have lived

‘Cause everyone likes to take

But nobody wants to give...

3

When the sun shines over the windy roads,

It’s thunderclouds we miss the most;

And if and when the rain must fall,

We’d rather not exist at all.

Never satisfied, we love complaints,

Now a sinner, then a saint.

Windy roads may slice off some skin,

But life’s like that----

It’s just the wind.

All Too Human Blues

Written By: Bob Lachman

All Too Human Blues Verse #1

I live in a cave on a mountainside, A hermit with a view. I don't care who laughs or cries, or who does what to whom. The city's my home but the rent's too high and I can't afford a room. I must live here 'cause the streets are mined, and one will get me soon.
Chorus: Left or right, up or down, I get so confused. Black and white, yellow red and brown, All God's colours got used, to make us humans true; and we sing the Human Blues.
Verse #2
I live with my tribe on the Sioux Nation, our backs against the wall. Slaves had it better on the old plantation, they were imported after all. Palm Beach Springs it is my home and caviar is my dish. The profits I make on the slums I own, are too much to resist. Chorus2

Side by side, back to front, I want something new! Night and day, love and hate, we all get black and blue; and those colors make us human too...As we paint the HumanBlues. Bridge: Dreams die hard and dreams die slow. Some dreams they never die......I know.
Verse#3
My heart carved this cave from anthracite so I would not feel life's pain, Iwrapped myself in dynamite and stood in the pouring rain. A new world is coming every day, I see it on the news; Computer chips and cyber trips and the All Too Human Blues.
Chorus #3
Up and down, in and out, oh baby what's the use? The politics of media has deranged each different truth So that after all , we live the human blues.

Love's Reprieve

Written By: Bob Lachman

Love's Reprieve

1

There's a tiger in the streets and a moose is on the loose;
the bears have all come down to town to be introduced.

The chicken hawks are circling and they've come down to roost. There's lots of easy pickins' now the foxes own the coop.

Chorus:
But what about love? will it ever set us free? We hate so much, why not love our enemies and grant each other love's reprieve.

2
The dinosaurs are cloning while man has lost his roots So many hungry mouths to feed but which ones can we choose?
Western woman at that table there, she's gorging herself on food, then she throws it up inside her wishing well,
And when her wish comes true she wants to be thinner still----

Chorus:
So where is love?
Is it a poets tale of mystery?
It's time we turned the pages of our history, and grant each other Love's Reprieve....

Bridge:-----
From this prison, from this time; I don't belong here where nothing rhymes. And there's no reason that skin and bones should be my prison and not a home....

3

What kind of world will we create if we don't hurry soon and stop killing everything outside our door!
The beauty that by nature's hand made earth and sky and sun and moon will too late be remembered when it's gone..................

Chorus:
So where is love?
Will it make a fool of me?
We hurt so much! Let's try to do things differently, and grant each other Love's Reprieve.............................

And Then there'll Be No You

Written By: Bob Lachman

And Then There'll Be No You. ! Faces white as unstained sheets, that have felt no love for long. Lovers dead before they meet, warriors praised in blood and song. Windows open to the world that eyes see nothing through; soon there'll be no daylight left, and then there'll be no you. 2 Sunlight weak as children's feet that feasts will not revive, eyelids closed in casual greet when dead men are alive. Trapdoors open in the sky that bombs fall through, soon there'll be no children left to cry And Then There'll Be no You. 3 Promises cannot be reached by Captain's hooks for hands. All this talk about freedom's beach, it's only bars of sand. Bunker buster bombs fall from space, they will fall down on you. You've heard me say it , but I'm gonna say it again: And Then There'll be No You! @Copyright 2008 Bob Lachman

Lies Big Brother Sold Me

Written By: Bob Lachman

Lies Big Brother Sold Me

The good wear white, the bad are black
That¹s what big brother told me.
The best defense is a strong attack,
In God we trust our money.
Casualties along the way are just the price of freedom.
It¹s not a price I¹m willing to pay
For an advertising slogan that sells lies
Big brother told me.

Why are we always so afraid
To look for truth and criticize?
Too long has freedom been delayed
By bullies from the left and right.
Buy me off, take my soul
Let the corporations own me.
Make believe that blood is gold,
But don¹t let them see you bloodied
By the lies Big Brother sold us.

He lies about the economy, he lies about the war.
He says that it¹s the future our kids are dying for
He says that he¹s from Texas,
When he¹s just a rich kid from Maine.
A coup put him in office and that¹s where he will stay
Until we uncover the lies
That mother sold us.

If what we fear should be fear itself
Then why are we so frightened?
We gobble pills for our mental health
When we could be enlightened.
If God is love and Jesus saves
Then why are we so unhappy?
Could it be that we¹re just willing slaves
to this Homeland Insecurity
Based on Lies Big Brother Sold us.
