BandPopSinger/Songwriter

A song is a window to a moment of truth, a respite from neurosis, a system of sound and meaning that moves you somewhere better.

Biography

After a few years of schooling in classical guitar as a child, I began to copy some Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin songs and then started to experiment with songwriting in my teens. I've journeyed through some cringeful early creations towards a style that sits loosely in the realm of eclectic folk, with country, rock and blues influences.

Apart from PF and LZ, major influences include Neil Young, Damien Rice, Nick Drake, Ben Harper, Gomez and Radiohead.

Each conceived in the eye of some kind of storm, the songs feature sincerity of lyrical content, with resounding chord progressions and harmonic overtones, enriched by contributions from a range of guest musicians.

Lyrics

The earth to which we fall

Written By: james Beetson

Loooking back, I see destruction in my wake. One day the world will swallow you and me.

Good things grow and bloom in the even light of gratitude and wither in the shadow of greed.

You travel long to fell a sense of belonging, but time bringsd you back to where you are now.

Look inside towards the space in which creation's born, see the butterfly unfold and dry its wings in the air.

Lay down on the earth to which we fall, to which we all must fall.

Do not fear just be still and in your silence may your journey begin.

You travel long to feel a sense of freedom, but time brings you back to where you are now.

When every word has been said, we cannot lose, we cannot win.

Market Preacher

Written By: James Beetson

He's got the stride of the converted, his questions have been answered by the voices of salvation.
Through his countenance perhaps a childlike voice calls to the unknown, but his demoons have been silenced by the noise of exultation.

The voices guide him to still water and it feels to him like destination.
He's come to lead you to the water too, just a little conversation - that's all he'll ask of you.

Fate then finds you alone in the market, seeking quiet amidst the noise, upon world-weary legs you stand.
He thinks the furrow in your introspective brow reveals a longing for the wisdom in the book that's closed inside his quivering hand.

"I've come to lead you to the water. I've got to save you from damnation."
But you've found comfort in the sea. It feels to you like destination.

The thief now tries to push your door ajar, he's out to steal some validation to find his own way free.
His faith has a hunger, his master key has been twisted in the lock of the fence of certainty.

When time has disposed of you and me, to waste away in our pollution.
When we've dissolved into the sea, gone our hopes, our fears, our selves and our delusions.

You search in vain for absolution, until the silent revolution.

Bidyadanga

Written By: James Beetson

Youthful sound fills the night, nroadcast from a backyard in a row of darkened homes.
Youthful dreams alive, uncounscious, unformed, unfulfilled but unbreakable like water.

Billy plays his brand to a row of flashing pearls and the bones shake and move with a freedom rarely seen.

"Where do you belong?"
"I can see where you belong"

Where the emu found the water before white men found the shore, where the ever-surging tide reclaims the desert for the sea.
In a town called Bidyadanga upon the northern edge of a land of open spaces where the pindan comes for free.

If the holy ghost should condescend its hand, then let it feel the fire that burns inside.
There is pride in a history unwritten, and business unfinished on this land

If we belong
Where you belong

Where the emu found the water before white men found the shore, where the ever-surging tide reclaims the desert for the sea.
In a town called Bidyadanga upon the northern edge of a land of open spaces where the pindan comes for free.

And the fast-receding tide returns the desert to thee
