Bodoma Original Garifuna

Speaking of Carlos Norales; is speaking of a humble, simple and talented young singer and drummer crihoyo Garifuna culture, which through his music, connects the youth with the ancestral and beyond. He was born in November 1974, on a ship named Kety Santa Fe, which was facing the Bay of La Ceiba and was full of passengers including his mother who was traveling from Puerto Cortes to Santa Fe Colon in Honduras. Bodoma got this pseudonym when once his second grade teacher joked and said that he was so restless that it seem as if he was born in the historic Biblical cities Sodom and Gomorrah, which his classmates took advantage of and so Sodom and Gomorrah became his nickname. At the end of that school year, he travels to Puerto Cortes in Honduras for a two months vacation. After returning to school, his peers had forgotten the nickname they gave him and began calling him Bodoma, which Carlos found very disturbing. At the age of 13, he traveled to San Pedro Sula to complete his studies. He graduated as a refrigeration and air conditioning Technician.

In that same era he became interested in Garifuna’s cultural activities, like singing and playing for ceremonies like DUGU. He earned his cultural position as a leader of the youth. The concern for a new African name, he decided to stick to Bodoma. In 1999, Bodoma went on a musical tour to Guatemala and Mexico. Once there he became known to the cities of Guatemala like, Puerto Barrios, and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. In Mexico he also had several presentations in some of the cities which were Tap Chula, Acapetagua, Tuxtlagutirrez and Sancristobal de las Casas. In the state of Chiapas, other presentations were in Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Tulun, Chetumal, and the state of Quintanaro. In early 2000 Bodoma also had appearances with his group in Belize like, the city of Dangriga, Sembat, Placencia and Punta Gorda. In the middle of the year 2000 he traveled to the United States with an impromptu group just for the trip. They did presentations in public places such as the parks to earn funds for their successful trip. In the year 2003 Bodoma recorded his first album with producer Victor Arzu entitled "Garifuna Emu Niumeila" and in 2005 had his second album called "Tenki Afrika" under the signature of V. A. Record

In October 2008, Bodoma travel with producer Victor Arzu to Cevia, Spain in Europe. During the stay in Spain they went to a musical conference of Womex to accompany the musician and songwriter Aurelio Martinez.

Recently Bodoma has met a Japanese friend named Nobumichi Miyagi, who is forming a reggae band that is called Garifuna-Japanese Reggae Band. The integrants are Garifunas and Japanese. Together, they have already had several events and have been accepted by the public. Nobumichi and Bodoma made a demo CD that is called GariRasta. For the year 2009 Bodoma is recording a demo of traditional music with V.A Records.

Hablar de Carlos Norales; es hablar de un umilde sencillo y talento joven tanborista y cantante crihoyo cultaral Garifuna, que atraves de su musica conecta la juventud con lo ancestral y el mas alla. nace en noviembre 1974, en una enbarcasion de pasajeros llamada kety santa fe frente a la bahia de la ceiba, cuando su madre viajaba de puerto cortes a santa fe colon en honduras. Bodoma alquiere este seudonimo, una vez que su profesora de segundo grado de primaria bromiava diciendole que por lo inquieto que era, el habia nacido en la historicas cuidades biblicas Sodoma y Gomorra, lo que aprovecharon sus compañeritos para apodarlo asi; Sodoma y Gomorra . al final de ese mismo año escolar se va por dos meses de vacaciones a puerto cortes en honduras, cuando regresa ya sus compañeros de escuela se les havian olvidado las palabras sodoma y gomorra llamandole bodoma, y esto lo molestaba mucho.a los 13 años viaja a san pedro sula a concluir sus estudios graduandoce de tecnico en refrigeracion y aire acondicionado.en esa misma era se interesa en las actividades culturales garifunas cantando y tocando para las ceremonias DÜGÜ alquiriendo la posision como lider cultural juvenil.entonces tuvo la inquietud de buscarse un nombre africano auto nombrandose BODOMA . en 1999 hace una jira musical por guatemala y mexico presentandose el la cuidad de guatemala, en puerto barrios, quetzaltenango guatemala. en mexico tuvo varias presentaciones algunas de ellas fueron en tapachula, acapetagua, tuxtlagutirrez, sancristobal de las casas, en el estado de chiapas. otras presentaciones fueron en playa del carmen, cancun, tulun, chetumal, en el estado de quintanaro. a principio del 2000 tambien tuvo presentaciones con su grupo en belize city dangriga, sembate, placencia,y punta gorda. a mediados del 2000 viaja a los estados unidos con un grupo improvisado solamente para el viaje. hacian sus presentaciones en lugares publicos y en los parques para recoudar fondos para su exitoso viaje. en el año 2003, BODOMA grava su primer album
