Bio

HOW TO BE AN ADULT is the full-length debut album by author/musician boice. Recorded in Brooklyn, ADULT is a stunning collection of sixteen pop songs written and sung by boice. When we say pop, we mean in the classic sense of the word: highly melodic, infectious rhythms and clever lyrics. boice loves early Elvis Costello, the Beatles and solo Morrissey.

January, three years ago, boice picked up his first guitar; two months later he wrote his first song, “It’s Not Enough,” a dancey, sad song. The breadth and diversity of his songwriting is further evidenced by the folk story-song of “Pauper’s Grave,” the easy soul of “Half-Brother” and the insanely catchy power pop of “Itchy Boys,” —ADULT’S first single.
~
ADULT resembles some sort of one-man jukebox while simultaneously retaining its cohesiveness. United by stick-in-your-head hooks and a novelist’s eye for lyrics, these songs prove 2010 is the YEAR OF THE ADULT.

boice-Terrel Allen is the author of two novels: Janet Hurst (taught by novelist E. Lynn Harris in his Creative Writing class at the University of Arkansas) and The Daughters of a Mother and the editor of Coloring Book: An Eclectic Anthology of Fiction & Poetry by Multicultural Writers, which was praised by Gregory Maguire (Wicked). The doublebook, Screwball Comedy/Stories Going Steady (a novel-in-stories and short story collection), is his latest work.
