Bola Shekoni

Bola Shekoni (birth name Adebola Shekoni) was born in Queens, NY on August 19, 1995 to Nigerian parents. Bola moved to Ridgeland, Mississippi at the age of one. Bola started singing at the age of ten when she joined the Girl choir of Mississippi in Jackson. Bola was a shy girl while in middle school when tried to hide the fact that she secretly entertained her grandparents and siblings by singing severals songs, however, her younger sister helped Bola to break out of her shyness by telling her to perform in front of her parents. At the age of thirteen, she finally asked to get help in making it possible for her to pursue singing in middle school. Bola was discovered to have Mezzo Soprano by her then voice trainer Winona Costello who quickly trained and enter her into several talent shows in Mississippi, Memphis and Louisiana by singing songs of her favorite artists and musical influences like Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Celine Dion, and among other younger artists like Rihanna.

Eventually, because of her strong interest in the singing, Bola was able to attend several workshops in addition to the talent shows. Bola relocated to Burbank, CA for better exposure and artist development at the age of sixteen. Eventually, she had her first song produced titled I’m Your Angel, which is a cover by Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. Bola also recorded original pop songs named Superstar and I Bet You are Sorry Now. Bola’s music can be described as young, fresh, and fun. Bola hopes that by performing her own song people can understand the stories behind them.
