"Anita's Tea Party"

The incredibly charming "experimental folk" band Bomb Your Face was second on the bill, playing their seventh gig ever. Fronted by John Forrest and Zibby Allen, their joyful noise includes ukuleles, a xylophone, and an accordion. I almost thought they were like a cheerier Moldy Peaches until Allen pulled out a keyboard-esque box that I think was a synthesizer. As someone who is not typically drawn to folk music, I found their performance irresistibly loveable and adorably badass. - LA 2 DAY

"Bomb Your Face"

Last Saturday night, the editor and some of the staff of Quote of the Day (QOTD) were treated to the debut of a new band hitting the LA circuit ... They are simply known as Bomb Your Face. The duo, Zibby Allen and John Forest, started the band just one month ago and performed a set of funky music coupled with witty banter in between songs (which made the show much like a stand-up routine). The amazing part was that Zibby, who had never played an instrument before, learned to play three instruments in just one month ... The keyboard, accordion and ukulele. And while the songs were performed extremely well (especially since Zibby hadn't picked up an instrument before), but it was the lyrics that stood out. There were definitely some funny, light-hearted songs (such as "My Thoughts Are Controlling The Weather" and "Large Marge"), a spin on a childhood lullaby ("Barges") and the heartfelt tribute to Zibby's brother, Hunter--a song called "Take It" which moved some of the audience to tears. All in all, it was an incredibly fun night of music and humor.

QOTD gives Bomb Your Face a perfect five accordions named Mark (out of a possible five). - Ouote Of The Day
