Bio

Bonny Jean is a young singer/songwriter from Twentynine Palms, California. She received 5 years of vocal instruction through her church choir, where she also provided accompaniment with guitar, flute, bongos and tambourine. Currently, she is a member of the Select Choir at her high school, plays the sousaphone in the marching band, and tuba in the symphonic band. She has been playing guitar for several years and began studying the double bass in 2008. In addition to the afore mentioned instruments, she also plays baritone and piccolo.

She has performed at various venues in California, independently and as a featured vocalist. She has been fortunate to perform with Scott Gates, Jonathan McEuen, Chelsea Williams, Evan Marshall, Alice and Albert Williams, Chuck Hailes, and The Hafler Duo. In 2008 she appeared with the Scott Gates Band at Dizzy's in San Diego to open for IIIrd Tyme Out, which resulted in a mention by Dwight Worden in his article on "Women in Bluegrass: Out of the Kitchen and onto the Stage", in the October 2008 edition of the San Diego Troubadour.

Recently, Bonny Jean was featured in The Desert Trail newspaper's Spirit Magazine as a "Young Mover" in the Morongo Basin. "As talented as she is smart, Twentynine Palms' Bonny Jean Scott has excelled in school while working and pursuing her musical dream ", writes Spirit Editor, Kelly O'Sullivan, "Listen to the 17-year-old sing and you aren't likely to forget it - her voice is big and robust, her words thoughtful and compelling".

Bonny enjoys most music genre, and attempts not to limit herself to a particular style. She currently has six songs under copyright, and continues to write songs and work toward a full length CD. Currently, Bonny is focusing on graduating high school a semester early to pursue a masters degree in music. Her long term goal is to achieve her teaching credential and become a school music instructor.

Among the many artists that influence her music and musicianship are Alice and Albert Williams, Chuck Hailes, Nathan McEuen, Scott Gates, Chelsea Williams, Janet Robin, Kasey Chambers, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Missy Raines and The New Hip, Saving Jane, and Streetlight Manifesto.
