"Other Side of Heaven"

"Other Side of Heaven" is the second CD from The BooHoo Ramblers, Clark Ashton's rambunctious roots rabblerousers. It's got a lot more kick and genuine Southerness than most recordings I hear from the thousands of of other bands in this general genre, and the songs hit the ears as honest and real. Ashton's skills as a painter are feaured prominently in the cover artwork, as well. - Stomp and Stammer

Bio

The BooHoo Ramblers are a three-piece roots-oriented band from Atlanta, Georgia with over 5 years together playing original &cover tunes that blend country, folk, and bluegrass styles, a.k.a., rockin’foot-stompin’ Americana. With 300+ shows in venues large & small, the group, whose natural chemistry allows for unpredictable tangents and spontaneous arrangements, rarely uses a set list as they hammer through unlikely medleys, experimenting with variations. Clark Ashton employs a hard strumming right hand in conjunction with a tambourine stomping left foot to set the pace for Pete Frisina’s integral driving bass lines while Patrick Mitchell solos on fiddle. Often the band is joined on stage by dobro, mandolin, banjo, drums, or guest vocalists that offer depth and texture to the core groups tight sets. Upbeat and highly stylized versions characterize the interpretation of cover material of familiar tunes by artists ranging from The Carter Family & Johnny Cash to Jethro Tull, Cream to Steve Earle. Original songs are written by Clark who serves as the leader & spirit guide for the group. The BooHoo Ramblers have released 2 full length CDs of original material: the self-titled debut in 2004 & Other Side of Heaven in 2007.
