Bio
book report was intended to be a side project for Adam Griffith (Temple Wildlife). “It’s bedroom pop. Literally. I’m happy to be compared to those artists, but I really have a bed in my studio. I make all my music alone at home. book report was always meant to be something for me, I was just convinced by my friends that sharing it may be a good thing.”
Griffith hasn’t historically been a vocalist, but his voice fits into his quirky world of organized chaos as if it were another instrument. “I had planned an EP of instrumental songs written in response to these novels I was reading, hence the name book report. I may release those tracks eventually, but I felt myself having things to say from my own life, and the project headed a new direction. It became like therapy, only everyone gets to see—which is admittedly wildly uncomfortable. However, I’m not ashamed to be working on myself. Maybe that makes what I’m singing have some significance.”
Although based in Nashville, busy, layered guitars and vocals over polyrhythmic drum machine grooves are the hallmarks of book report’s sound; the southern twang of Griffith’s voice only adds a hint of sorrow to the music, instead of making it feel like an alt-country release.
