Bio

I'm Josh. First and foremost: I write/record/play/mix/arrange/produce/EQ ALL of the instruments, vocals, and lyrics in ALL of my songs. I write music in different genres. The reason I do this is to appeal to a wider variety of licensing opportunities. I feel that sticking to one genre or style, especially with my main goal of licensing, really limits possibilities. I'm all about those possibilities and creating space for things to happen.

I started playing music at the age of 11. My instrument was bass. I mowed my uncle's yard every Saturday for one month to get it. From there my mind expanded more than I'd ever know. The bands I was listening to started making more sense. The notes I heard started turning more into colors and shapes. Music then became my life.

Years of playing in bands that range from bluegrass, rock, folk, metal, to what-the-hell-am-I-listening-to lead me to where I am now. Picking up other instruments along the way and learning how to incorporate their timbres into my own music. If I don't know how to play an instrument and I need it for a song, I will learn it...and use it.

In my ears is where the magic happens. Those little hairs turn those vibrations into structured sound and enable me to produce those sounds for you.

The science of music and how the brain receives it has always fascinated me. Every song is, you could say, an experiment. Let's see what feelings it pulls out of you. Let's see what road it takes you down in an empty city or what trail you find your way down in a canopied abyss.
