Biography

When you think of the nicest emcees from Yonkers, some of the best in the game come to mind: DMX, The L.O.X. ... And then there was BOOKS.

"I'm the only book you can't read, but can learn a lesson from" ~ BOOKS

Leading the one-man team for Hard Luck Records Group (HLR Group), Books is the CEO, hip-hop artist, songwriter, and artist developer. Influenced by EPMD and Slick Rick, Books "raps his ass off." DJ Delz hosted the first mixtape "Cheat Sheet" where Books switches up the bounce on every joint with beat selections from A Tribe Called Quest's "Check The Rhyme" to Jay-Z's "Where I'm From," an ode to the Riverdale Ave strip he grew up on in downtown Yonkers.

Standing at 6'6", Books played college basketball in Cali, Texas and Kentucky, and performed in music showcases on both coasts in the interim. Books spent a summer in the NBA pro leagues, but an injury prevented him from competing at his desired level. So he went from basketball back to Books ... for good. Up-and-coming artists from New York City to Detroit with label deals have hired Books to ghostwrite. He's currently recording his next two mixtapes before the release of his debut album, "Teacher's Edition."
