"Doom Squad teams up with Boosh & the Dip for September 2015 Cypher"

Edmonton, AB – Doom Squad took a new approach with their monthly cypher in their latest collaboration “September 2015 Cypher”, featuring Edmonton’s Boosh & The Dip. After running 18 months deep (and counting), what makes September 2015’s cypher so unique is the fusion of Boosh’s four-piece band, The Dip. Kryple, Ninelivez, Trippz and Boosh body their verses, making the entire collab the perfect package. Check out the Sonik-directed video after the jump.

"Palm Trees acoustic 2014 HiphopCanada.com Review"

Boosh & The Dip bring some acoustic flavour with “Palm Trees” (the original version was recorded on their album Adventures of the Talented & Lazy). Rappers going acoustic can be a risky little situation; when we rely so much on beats it gives the artist even more pressure to come correct with their flow. However, Boosh is rather impressive with his rhymes, the hook and when you add the melodies from the guitar – we have a nice little package that we can nod our heads too. Boosh & The Dip are a collective of musicians from Edmonton (Boosh brings the rhymes and The Dip brings the music). You can catch up with the group on their website, but in the meantime take a listen to “Palm Trees” after the jump. - www.HiphopCanada.com

"Beatroute Magazine reviews Boosh & the Dip's first album"

With tight lyrics and addictive beats, Adventures of the Talented & Lazy is an EP that lives up to its name.

The debut album of Edmonton hip hop crew Boosh & the Dip – a diverse selection of samples, synths and introspective vocals – is clearly the product of a skilled group of musicians. However, these 11 tracks fall into the mold of made-in-the-USA hip hop, repeating the sentiments and subjects of American rappers, and missing out on an opportunity to stand out as distinctly Canadian hip hop. This is how they keep it Talented and Lazy.

Boosh & the Dip do an excellent job of drawing listeners along on a soundscape that is both action-packed and laid back, right from the title track. With building rhythms and teasing lyrics, the audience starts out anticipating but are soon grooving on stories woven in rich melodies.

One of the most interesting tracks, “Palm Trees,” speaks of the ways we search for paradise, and drops the name of two of the most relaxing drugs – Valium and cannabis – in the first 35 seconds. Uncomfortable realities such as bombs dropped for gas company profits are interrupted by an almost hypnotic female voice reminding us to “forget our problems,” relax and allow the world to pass by. But then again, the track has hardly launched before we hear mention of the “American Dream,” but what about living adjacent to some of the world’s largest oil fields here in Canada, Boosh & the Dip? You definitely have the potential, now is the time to take your power. - Beatroute Magazine

Bio

Boosh & the Dip is an Emcee (Boosh) and 4-piece band (The Dip) that focuses on making organic, thoughtful, and far-reaching hip-hop music. All of their music is self-produced, and the fusion of many influences, genres, and sounds makes Boosh & The Dip one of the most accessible hip-hop acts around. The idea is to use a band to bring out the feelings of listening to jazz, roots, and rock records, the kind that have been then sampled and given new life through hip-hop. The group delivers a live performance that is high energy and versatile, ready to play on a street corner or in a stadium.

Boosh & The Dip is currently laying low and taking the time to record River City Riot, Part 2. Anticipate 2017 being the band’s busiest year yet.
