"TWO: An Original Music Series"

With the exception of the Empire's ever-popular Clash of the Titans, getting good crowds for Tuesday-night events has been pretty hard in this town.

However, if you're looking for original music of a Tuesday, insert Port City Music Hall's Two Series here. Two local artists, two-dollar cover, two-dollar drafts from 8 to 11 pm. Two dollars! Check your couch, your car, or even your bike bag to scrounge up the cash. Port City's making it not just easy to go out this winter, but nearly inexcusable not to.

They have an ongoing series of local artists, with truly fulfilling combos week after week, offering a good evening that is also a testament to our ever-strong music scene.

For those who have yet to make it out, here's the deal. The series starts on time and at a decent hour for a weeknight. Doors are at 8 pm and the past two weeks the music has started before or around 9 pm. On February 6, Dilly Dilly and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper even inserted a 20-minute intermission for mingling.

There has been a consistently large audience and if you've been doing a lot of hibernating this winter it's the perfect place to run into people you haven't seen in a while and hang back at the bar — or go to the front of the stage and revel in the room's phenomenal acoustics.

Bio

Bootiddy is a fresh, emerging young band from Orono, Me/UMaine. The trio produces hypnotic electro-compositions, combining new age beats with traditional rock and roll sensibilities. The band burst onto the competitive Orono music scene in the Spring of 2008 playing house parties, an epic late-night at “Chickenfest” (University Festival), and at local bars. Taking this momentum, the band returned in early September with two packed/sold out shows at Orono’s Sports Café, two festival appearances, and opened for EOTO at the Port City Music Hall in Portland, ME. Through a summer and fall full of well received shows, Bootiddy has established a developing loyal fan base that packs bars and houses in and around Orono. They recently played a mind blowing show at a popular venue during Sugarloaf's annual Reggae Fest, with the fans screaming for more. Bootiddy and their fans are looking to the future, and are excited to bring the band to new venues and festivals.
