Bio

Sometimes a band shows up that simply defies description. Bootleg is one of those bands, a unique mixture of styles and influences probably best defined (for lack of a better word) as new country. and the result of this blend of youth and experience is kick ass, high energy originality.

Their latest CD, "One More Time" is a true portrait of the band, with highlights of country, rock and blues. All the songs are originals, and the content varies from thoughtful to rowdy. Also included in their current show are versions of eternal classics by artists such as: Bob Dylan (Like a Rollin' Stone), Dire Straits (Sultans of Swing), Doobie Brothers (Long Train Runnin'), Garth Brooks (Ain't Goin' Down), Creedence Clearwater Revival (Have You Ever Seen the Rain?), Alan Jackson (Chatahootchie) , Travis Tritt (T-R-O-U-B-L-E), and Stevie Ray Vaughan (Pride and Joy). along with other songs by well known artists and songwriters.

At present Bootleg is based in Brazil, but the band doesn't see any disadvantage in not basing out of the US. "Living outside the States has given us a different viewpoint which comes out in the lyrics and the music", says Alan. "Coming into contact with other cultures and lifestyles is a real eye-opener musically and otherwise, and after the initial shock it is quite an enjoyable learning experience! Although we have enjoyed South America and Canada we are looking forward to playing in Europe and Russia, as well, who knows maybe even in the East, or Australia and New Zealand."

While the current tour is taking up much of their time, writing new songs has a high priority. "We just keep getting new song ideas and it just seems like they're getting better and better, " adds Richard, "so we´re constantly recording and arranging these ideas, trying this and trying that. The "boys" (Alan´s sons, whom Richard has known since they were born) have got some great tunes which will be coming out soon, too, so we're plenty busy!"

If "One More Time" is any indication, it looks like the world is in store for some great original music. Stay tuned!
