Born Crain? Never heard of him, you’d say.
Nonetheless over 150,000 people in Japan, Belgium and Holland have his albums on their shelf. And now he’s bringing his 4th album ‘Identity’ across the Atlantic!

The first albums were made in the spirit of his all-time piano heroes Billy Joel, Elton John and Ben Folds. But now, on a bunch of vintage synths, he was inspired to create songs that remind him of the first decade of his life - resulting in powerful melodic synth pop.

Biography

Born Crain’s newest release ‘Identity’ demonstrates the versatility of an accomplished artist. Inspired by the first decade of his life, this latest album pays homage to the music from that era and tells the story of a true musician who’s come home.

Born Crain started his musical career, as a performer, back in 2004. His debut full-length album ‘Fools Rush In’ (2006)
went gold in Belgium, with 19.000 copies sold and delivering several hit singles. “Walking In The Sun”, “Good Times” and title track “Fools Rush In” topped the charts and the very popular balled “Don’t Ever Go” became the theme song of the prestigious TV-show “Aspe”.

The Belgian success of “Fools Rush In” proved a solid base for an international expansion. The album was successfully released in Japan in 2007 and sold over 50.000 copies overseas. Born Crain and his awesome band extensively toured the Benelux and throughout Japan in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka in 2007 and 2008.

In 2008 the single “Four Letter Word” was released and was an instant hit on all the major radio stations in Belgium. Born Crain’s second album “The Pleasure of Your Company” followed later that year, again generating massive airplay and sales. 2009 became yet another busy year of travelling and playing concerts.

His 3rd album “Anatomy”, which was released in November 2010 in Europe and Japan, was an artistic turning point
for Born Crain. After working with a renowned Belgian alternative producer, the album stands out showcasing songs that were not only written but also co-produced by Born.

In 2012, while living in “The Big Apple”, Born Crain recorded a number of covers and interpretations of pop songs, all related to the United States. Due to unexpected success and popular demand, these 19 songs were released on a “Born In The USA” album. It topped the online charts only hours after its release. But after this and many other side projects, Born felt the time was right for new music. Living and working in New York as well as the personal events that followed in his life were the inspiration for his fourth album “Identity”.

Born Crain was awarded with a ZaMu award for “Best Belgian Pop” and won the prestigious EBBA (European Boarders Breakers Award) in 2008 at the renowned MIDEM convention in Cannes, France. Over 150.000 people
own his albums, he toured the Billboard Live Clubs in Japan, played over 250 shows in Europe and appeared in hundreds of national TV-and radio shows in Belgium, Japan & The Netherlands.

After great support from college radio all across the US, Born and his awesome band can't wait to take the stage across the Atlantic. Why? Because they love it. And chances are you will too!

Wishlist

Written By: Born Meirlaen, A Hicklin, J. Swinnen, G. Mckenzie

I got a wish list
They’re some things I need to do
No not a moment here to lose
Time flew so fast in chapter 2

I got an itching
A little stone stuck in my shoe
A couple mountains left to move
Then out with the old, in with the new

Let’s take the hands of all the clocks
And put a pause on yesterday
Let’s give tomorrow the day off
The whole day off

I got a wish list
Before I tighten up the bolts
My destination is unknown
Not ready for the steady road

I gotta ditch this
Fear of what the future holds
No, I’m not scared of growing old
I’ve still got time to rock and roll

I got a wishlist
There’s so much left to do
Yeah I got a wishlist
That I must hold onto

New York Lady

Written By: Born Meirlaen, Jeroen Swinnen, Stefaan Fernande

N.Y. Lady
(Born Meirlaen, J.Swinnen, S.Fernande)

I lit the lights of Paris
Put out the flames in Rome
I split canals in Venice
But I never found a home

I’ve roamed through the deserts
And I wandered down the streets
But I found the treasure inside of the walls
Now my journey’s complete

Tender and sweet I got swept off my feet
By my New York Lady
Nothing you say’s gonna drag me away
From my New York Lady now…

She may be danger to me
But I can’t let go…no no

A voice said “time to wake up”
But I’ve never been so bright
I feel love in every raindrop
Don’t stop me from doing this, cause it/this feels so right…

I’ve tried so hard to let go
But the memory remains

All of those things crooners sing in their songs may come true
Millions of reasons don’t make an excuse, I’ll break all the rules
To spend one more minute with you…

Tender and sweet I got swept off my feet
By my New York Lady
Nothing you say’s gonna drag me away
From my New York Lady

I know it’s wrong to hold on
But I can’t let go….no no

Tell The World

Written By: Born Meirlaen, Anthony Galatis, Mark Frisch

Tell the World
(Born Meirlaen, M.Frisch, A.Galatis)
Cast away
Somewhere deep at sea

Couldn’t stay
Alone inside of me

‘Til today
Been walkin’ in my
Talkin’ in my sleep

You’ve woken up the
deepest part in me

My heart’s bangin’ like a drum
Everytime you come darkness fades into the dawn
So come and take me away
To live and see the day
We’ll find a place where we belong

Tell the world I’m alive
For the first time in my life
Tell the world I’m alive
For the first time in my life

Till today
Been walkin’ in my
Talkin’ in my sleep

You woke me up
when I was in too deep

My heart’s bangin’ like a drum
Everytime you come you stick it straight into my veins
Never had this before
You got me beggin’ for more
So won’t you take away the pain

I’m seeing things in a different light
When I was about to give up the fight
Tomorrow’s gonna bring another day

This Is Me

Written By: Born Meirlaen, Simon Rushby

This Is Me
(S.Rushby, Born Meirlaen)

Did you ever ask yourself if you’d be strong enough?
Did you ever get a broken heart to mend?
Did you ever hope
That the others who just look through your eyes
And never see
Might one day become your friend?

Well this is me.
And all of the things that I know
Could fill up the night sky above
I’m watching you get up and go
When all that I need is your love
Singing out with my silent refrain
Never giving up hope of being free
This is the me that no one else will ever see

Did you realise how good I am at healing you?
Do you know you only have to call my name?
Do you ever feel
Like you are the only one in the world
And no one else
Will ever understand your pain?

Well this is me
And all of the things that I know
Could fill up the night sky above
I’m watching you get up and go
When all that I need is your love
Singing out with my silent refrain
Never giving up hope of being free
This is the me that no one else will ever see

Someone who knows about you
Knows all the thoughts on your mind
I might never tell you I care
But that doesn’t mean that I’m blind
And all of the things that I know
Could fill up the night sky above
I’m watching you get up and go
When all that I need is your love
Crying out with my silent refrain
Never giving up hope of being free
This is the me that no one else will ever see

John Travolta

Written By: Born Meirlaen, J. Swinnen

John Travolta
(Born Meirlaen, J.Swinnen, A. Hicklin, G. Mackenzie)

I never thought I’d walk away
I’m walking with a smile

There’s nothing more for us to say
See you around sometime

People ask if I’m OK
I say I’m more than doin’ fine

Won’t let you rain on my parade
I’m movin’on in style

Won’t say: nice to know you
Good luck with Casanova/John Travolta
It’s time to say goodbye to yesterday

Sailing out
On the North Pacific Ocean
I’m going it alone

Soakin’ up the sun
Gonna do it with devotion
The world is mine to roam

You lift me up to watch me fall
I read between the lines

This time I won’t return the call
The pleasure’s been all mine

I can’t say it’s been good to to know you
So good luck with John Travolta
It’s time to say goodbye to yesterday

Maybe we can work this out
Many years from now
Yeah maybe we’ll do lunch upon the moon
