Bio

Bosnian Pot (Bosanski Lonac – in Bosnian language) is a music group founded
in Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina in spring 2013 by two
enthusiastic musicians, Kenan (vocals & piano) and Mirza (flamenco guitar).
Their intention was to present SEVDALINKA, the Bosnian traditional music
which is widespread all over Balkan’s territory, surfing the artistic waves with
“an innovative but still very traditional approach”.

The name ‘’Bosnian Pot’’ refers to an authentic Bosnian culinary speciality,
appreciated for its rich taste and flexibility. It is impossible to define the recipe
for Bosanski lonac, as there are many variations, but the main ingredients are
mostly the same: meat and various vegetables.

It has been on tables of both the rich and the poor for hundreds of years.

Like the traditional meal, music which Bosnian Pot performs is enriched with
lot of elements of other music styles such as flamenco, jazz and music from
the East, in order to express the magic power of sevdalinka. ‘’The power of
love and pain is equal to everyone, no matter if you're rich or poor''.

In spring 2014 Bosanski Lonac recorded a single and a video for the song
‘’Putuj vjetre’’ (Travel, wind) characterized by a passionate flamenco rhythm,
a new element in traditional SEVDALINKA. After releasing the song, the
percussionist Davor joined the band and in May 2014 they had their debut as
a trio with guests at the 4th Sarajevo Sevdah Festival, the most important
event in the whole region dedicated to Sevdah tradition, where they got very
positive critics .

In spring 2015 they released another single with video ‘’Mila majko salji me na
vodu’’ (My dear mother, send me to the water) introducing for the very first
time the beat box into a traditional Bosnian song. The song was very well
welcomed by the audience. Thanks to the jazzy piano playing of Kenan, the
passionate flamenco guitar of Mirza and with an essential support of Davor on
his percussions, Kenan’s voice raises above the flamenco/jazzy/oriental fusion
of their arrangements. All of these elements defines Bosnian Pot as a young,
fresh band which performs music from Bosna & Herzegovina and other Balkan
countries such as Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia.
