Bosio

Every time you turn around it seems that another mall pop band with the word EMO proudly tattooed across their chest crawls out from underneath the proverbial suburban rock. Milwaukee’s Bosio (pronounced Bah-Zee-Oh) is here to break through that mold. Their new, aptly titled and self-released EP, “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” is the flawless intersection of unforgettable pop melodies and emphatic harmonies that cleverly weave over intermittently scathing lyrics. Bosio is the perfect union of tunefulness and aggression.

Bosio was formed in the summer of 2002 by guitarist Andy Silverman and vocalist/guitarist Jeff Meilander, former members of the Milwaukee based hardcore band Seven Days of Samsara. Jeff and Andy soon teamed up with bass player Casey Masterson and an assortment of temporary drummers to record and release their first demo. Bosio began playing shows in October of 2002. In the spring of 2003, Bosio recorded their second and not so subtly titled release, “Three Song EP.” The hunt was still on for a drummer. They enlisted some old friends and after many months and a few failed attempts; Bosio finally found their man- former Forever Is Forgotten drummer Scott Giese joined the band in the summer of 2004.

In the Three years that Bosio has been playing together they have successfully earned the title as one of the hardest working bands in Milwaukee and quite possibly the entire Midwest. Bosio began as weekend warriors playing every show they could get within a 10 hours radius; anywhere from Minneapolis to St Louis, Chicago and beyond. This landed them on some high profile shows with the likes of Cursive, Lucky Boys Confusion, Against Me!, the Ataris, Coheed and Cambria, Spitalfield, Local H and a date on the 2004 Warped Tour. Every summer was spent on tour steadily building a stalwart fan base.

At the close of 2004 Bosio entered the studio once again with the recording aid Shane Olivo and Jared Logan (Fall Out Boy, Seven Angels Seven Plagues), this time to construct their third EP, “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”. This is Bosio’s third self-released effort. The band has always taken matters into their own hands from booking their own tour to printing their own merchandise and even releasing their own records. The future looks bright for these four assiduous young men. They are about to embark on their East Coast tour and hopefully 2006 will bring them some nice things.
