Bio
Chic was born and raised in Trenton , NJ . She and her 5 siblings were raised by a
single mother. They struggled but from a very young age, Chic was always entertaining.
Chic started dancing at the Watson-Johnson Dance Theatre at the age of 7 and by the age of 17, she became a dance choreographer and instructor. She has won several national awards in dancing competitions.
She became interested in rap at the age of 12 when she saw her first “battle rap.” Chic began writing her own rhymes and battle rapping in Trenton and ventured out into other surrounding cities. Her extraordinary talent caught the attention of many people and she was invited to open up for artists such as KRS-1 and Poor Righteous Teachers. When Chic felt the energy from the crowd and the support of Trenton that was behind her, she knew she wanted to make a career out of her talent.
Chic’s sound is very authentic with an edgy, hip hop feel. She has written lyrics on tracks that some think have an East Coast, West Coast or Down South feel. But the list doesn’t stop. She can write to any genre of music that people will love. Don’t be surprised to hear her vocals on Pop, Rock, or R&B. There is no limit to her sound. Too unique not to be acknowledged.
In 2003, unfortunately, Chic ran into some trouble and was sentenced to 6 years in a correctional facility. Chic, was released in 2009 and is hard at work on her music and perfecting her talent. She is in college fulltime and also entering various showcases on the music she has recorded thus far.
