"Show Review: Artofficial With Boston Molasses Disaster @ O'Brien's 6/1"

BMD works a healthy dose of improvisation into their live show. During the performance you could see them communicating through looks and gestures as their jams took twists and turns, slowing down and then, as they planned it all along, crescendo-ing powerfully in unison before dropping back into the hook. At times sounding like Phish, at others sounding more like Blue Oyster Cult, BMD put together an eclectic set of originals as enjoyable as they were impressive. - PlaygroundBoston.com

Taking Boston history and backing it with one of the most talented jam bands around is a lock for great local talent. - OurStage

"Capital Sounds: Musical happenings in and around the Capital City"

Saturday night at our local dive for nice people, Beantown jam-band The Boston Molasses Disaster plays at 10. The band is named for a notorious engineering mishap that occurred in times of yore (you can Google it), but expect a better than average fusion of rock, jazz and the like with a heavy dose of improvisation. - Rutland Herald

Bio

Boston Molasses Disaster is a Boston-based progressive rock jam band that is stirring the music scene in the Northeast with their energetic live shows and dynamic sound. The 4-piece displays powerful songwriting, catchy melodies and superb musicianship while pushing their musical boundaries. Their tasteful music lends to influences from many different genres including folk, jazz, pop, hard rock, funk, progressive, etc. – all infused with their passion for improvisation.

Their history is long in the making, organically brewing from a group of friends with a shared love for good music and jamming. Though they have evolved musically since their first incarnation, their passion and mission remain the same. With a reputation that continuously precedes them, they were invited to play their first show at an event commemorating the 89th anniversary of the historic Boston molasses disaster.
