"...I can't wait to hear their next CD."

“Their four-song EP entitled 'Dive Bar Girl' really caught my attention. It is definitely something different than the norm, and I really like that because I’m sick of hearing the same stuff over and over again. Bottle Rocket Blue brings something more unique to the mix. I can tell this band really enjoys what they are doing. The vocals are very raw and the lyrics are quite basic, but it fits their style. The keyboards give the songs a great effect, and the rhythm section is very tight. This band has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to hear their next CD.” - Rachel Komar, Midwest Beat Magazine

"...making Old School rock fresh..."

"Bottle Rocket Blue are making Old School rock fresh with their tones; heartfelt lyrics and a soulful, guitar-driven sound. They are creating something that does not sit with the metal/screamo bands that are so prevalent. Rather, they are taking the long road, establishing themselves as classic artists, even within their first years."

- Darryl Swart of Tree 63 & producer

"...just four guys who play the music they like."

"Bottle Rocket Blue are good, honest rock 'n roll. In an era of prefabricated pop and market-researched rock, Bottle Rocket Blue exude a true enthusiasm for music, regardless of current trends or convention. Quite frankly, they are just four guys who play the music they like. The fact that it happens to be accessible pop is simply by coincidence. When you see and listen to Bottle Rocket Blue you get the feeling that they would be perfectly content playing to an empty room, so long as they could turn the amps up and let the songs flow. One can only hope more bands follow their aesthetic."
- Bobby Ray, producer, Wilson's Basement Studio

"...taking no prisoners..."

“…Bottle Rocket Blue, a 4-piece rock band hailing from Valparaiso, Indiana, are taking no prisoners in their quest…. They plan to do this by working hard both on and off the road in order to get their music out and heard by the masses.”
- TheBullhorn.net, Internet magazine

"...I am hooked."

"Bottle Rocket Blue are captivating on every level of musical performance. Visually speaking, the two animated guitarists, one right-handed and the other left-, compliment each other beautifully…. Their solo voices are pure, their harmonies are of Everly Brothers quality, and they employ a great sense of musical dynamics missing in many young bands. All of these things make them a joy to the ears. Add their genuine spirit of camaraderie, and their fine self-penned lyrics and I am hooked."
- Jane Schreiner of Front Porch Music

Bio

Their story begins as most do not. It continues on, driven by a passion for the music they love. Bottle Rocket Blue is a rare find, musical puritans. As they learn the craft of music making, they work hard, and have enjoyed some success as a result of their diligence. BRB knows that the road ahead of them will not get any easier, but they are ready to travel it.

Tom Adamson, lead guitarist, learned as a teenager to play on a guitar with five strings. He played that way until he got a job a year later and bought a D string. Troy Yeager, lead singer and rhythm guitar, met Tom in college, but it wasn't until after college that the two got together and started playing around with some of the music that Troy had been writing over the years. The two collaborated on some more music, started playing wherever they could, in coffeehouses, bars, open mic nights, the streets, and began to form the sound of Bottle Rocket Blue -- 60's rock mixed with some NYC mod. In the summer of 2003 they went to the band's birthplace, a Radiohead concert, with Jason Monroe, an acquaintance of Troy's, and enjoyed the musical splendor of Thom Yorke and company. Afterward, Troy and Tom told Monroe of the music they had been playing and about the gig they had just booked at an art festival. Monroe smiled and confidently spoke in his suave Arkansas accent, "Well, I can play kit for you." Mind you, he'd never played a live show before in his life, and Tom and Troy had never heard him beat a drum. But that didn't matter -- he was in. Soon after, Tom introduced the group to Barry, BRB's bassist. Barry first picked up a bass guitar in the summer of 2002, but that didn't keep him from learning the group's songs in one week. They had a band, so they started booking shows.

Many people have helped BRB along the way. Jeremy Bustos, of Studio This Is photography, helped the group find their image. In the summer of 2004, Bustos captured the band's image and honed in on their personalities and lovable spirit through their spirited photo session. Marc Nelson, engineer of Beartraks Studios, and Darryl Swart, former drummer of Tree 63 and independent producer, helped the band as well. In the summer of 2004, Marc and Darryl recorded the boys, teaching them how to make their old school sound become fresh and polished, pushing them to the limits in the studio. In the winter of 2004 they released their EP, Dive Bar Girl.

Bottle Rocket Blue is currently working on a new 6-song EP, tentatively entitled Unfinished Buildings, and are working with Tinderbox Music to promote Dive Bar Girl to 300 CMJ radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. In just six weeks' time, they received "adds" on 176 of those stations, including several official CMJ Top 5 Adds and several Top 30 chartings. With over 6,000 friends in the U.S. and worldwide on MySpace.com and recent performances at The Double Door, The Note and Subterranean in Chicago, and Radio Radio in Indianapolis (among other clubs around the Midwest), BRB is very happy with how far they've traveled in only three and a half years...and they're confident that the best is yet to come.
