Childhood friends, Kevin Danaher and Dan Riess, began working together in the summer of 2010. Boxelders first took shape while Kevin worked on recording the song Like Wolves We Sing. Dan sang one of the many backup vocal parts.
During the following breaks from school the pair would help each other write songs and intermittently work on recording them. Dan’s extreme impatience prevented many songs from being recorded in a timely manner. Many of the bands shows are house shows with friends and punk band s in Arbutus and College Park.
Through the winter, spring and summer of 2011 the remaining tracks of the Crow/Dandelion e.p. were recorded in Kevin’s basement. The Crow/Dandelion e.p. was released in a limited batch of 300. It was received well by friends of the band.
Boxelders are currently working on recording their first full length and playing shows in the Baltimore and D.C. areas.
