Bio
Boyd makes his home in the remote woods of Grand Marais, Mn on the north shore of Lake Superior. The rugged beauty of the landscape, the self sufficient and sometimes lonely lifestyle infuse his songwriting. After many years touring nationally with Twin Cities band "The Gooneybirds" he moved north to become a father and run a small business. Years in the construction trades did nothing to silence the music in him. A second place finish at the Big Top Chautauqua songwriting contest in August gave him the resolve and encouragement to return to his first love. The voice that has re-emerged has a new depth - songs crafted with hand hewn simplicity, the wisdom of life experience, and a deep understanding of the human condition. He is currently in the studio and will release his first album of original songs later this year. The album title, "Hearts Ache When Hearts Break" sums it all up - Boyd doesn't see any point in complicating the truth. He's willing to give us the plain facts and somehow we feel we're hearing them for the first time. In addition to his solo performances, Boyd also performs in the duo, Pushing Chain, with Adam Moe (vocal, fiddle, uke). Their adept instrumentation, tight "brother" harmonies and honed engaging stage presence make Boyd's original songs shine and leave concert audiences wanting more.
