Local Musicians open for The Ataris
By Emily Rippe

When brothers Tom and Joe DiNardi started playing cover songs in the basement of their Strongsville, Ohio home a few years ago, they never thought they’d wind up being the opening band for one of the most influential pop/punk bands of our time.

But after developing their own unique sound and building up a posse of fans, including a band and a public relations manager, the band became a widely knows group called Brace For Impact – an in-your-face, pop/punk rock band ready to take over the music world.

“I really believe it’s (Brace for Impact) the next big thing,” said the band’s manager Nick Minich. “Looking at the past, we had one-hit wonders in the 90’s, a rap era in the early 2000’s, now we are in some kind of hip/hop phase, but rock is coming back and these guys are the icons of the future.”

The name says it all. Brace For Impact. Should we wear helmets? Kneepads? Earplugs?

While you may want to be prepared for this up-and-coming band, wearing protective gear might be a little unnecessary, considering Brace For Impact’s sound probably won’t literally knock you off your feet.

Heavily influenced by bands like the Used, Incubus and the Foo Fighters, but sticking true to their roots: Green DY, Sum 41 and Mxpx, their music, with all original lyrics, is soothing to the ears, especially if given the chance to see them live.

Currently Brace For Impact is looking for a place to record their new songs. As a full band, they are also able to play house shows and bars. Last year the band opened for the famous teenage dirg bags, Wheatus. They also were the opening band for the legendary pop/punk band The Ataris.
