Biography

I started playing Bass guitar when I was 13. My best friend already was playing guitar and told me to learn bass so we could start a band. I bought a bass guitar and amp with all the money I had. Two months later we hated each other, and I was left playing bass alone. I said, forget this I'm not just gonna play this bass by myself forever. I bought a guitar instead, of course learning to sing and play drums came later on in high school. After learning a few bass lines from my favorite songs I started messing around and writing some guitar riffs and eventually some full songs within just a few months of starting guitar. I had no idea that later on in my life writing my own music would be my primary focus as a musician! When I started playing guitar I was influenced by Stone Temple Pilots primarily. Today I would say that my original music can't really be nailed down to a specific genre and I don't really sound like anybody else (I hope you agree when you hear my music since creativity is extremely important to me). I have had people tell me my voice sounds like Billie Joe from Green Day. I really have never had anyone tell me that my songs sound similar to another artist (which makes me happy). But, of course, I am inspired by other musicians- Kate Miller-Heidke (I think she is from Australia, she is an AMAZING song writer), Mae, 311, and Wyclef Jean. I have been in bands and on my own throughout my life as a musician, but here are the names of bands and musicians I am proud to say I have played and wrote music with.....
2nd Best (Bettendorf, IA and Ames, IA)
The Suburban Chronicles (Davenport, IA)

Lyrics

For You

Written By: Brad Johnson

For You

And here I surrender my heart to you
I know that this time you’ll see me through
You want this for me more than I do

And when it hits me I feel like crying
And when people ask me I choose to lie
About this brokenness that I feel

I don’t wanna live for me but you
I don’t wanna live for me but you
And I remember the struggles I went through

And here I surrender my every thought
I try to practice what Jesus taught
Because I believe He paid my cost

I don’t wanna live for me but you
I don’t wanna live for me but you
And I don’t wanna live for me but you
And I don’t wanna live for me but you

And I’ll never ever be the same
And you’ll never ever be the same

And I don’t wanna live for me but you
I don’t wanna live for me but you
And I remember the struggles I went through

And here I pour out all my requests
You hear, and you answer in ways that are best for myself all this pain on my shelf needs to go away and I’ll never be the same again

I don’t wanna live for me but you
I don’t wanna live for me but you
And I don’t wanna live for me but you
I don’t wanna live for me but you, but you, but you………but you…..
