Rain On The Wind

Written By: Bradley Mossman

Look to the mountain Namolokama
Where are the rain clouds, the precious ua?
The Hanalei River is running low
The water is warm and the kalo won’t grow

It’s been a year since the rain last fell
When it will come, no one can tell
I remember the smell of the rain on the wind
Before the rain begins
Will it ever come again?
The rain on the wind

There are stories, the old folks once told
Of times like these in the years of old
No more lo’i, the kalo all gone
At last the rains came and the stories moved on
But now my children have all moved away
Will I be the last here? It looks that way

It’s been a year since the rain last fell
When it will come, no one can tell
I remember the smell of the rain on the wind
Before the rain begins
Will it ever come again?
The rain on the wind

But if I am to be the last
To whom will the knowledge pass?

Look to the mountain, Namolokama
Search for the rain clouds, the precious ua
I will climb the mountain, to plead with the sky
And ask the winds to carry my cry

It’s been a year since the rain last fell
When it will come, only you can tell
I remember the smell of the rain on the wind
Before the rain begins
Will it ever come again?
The rain on the wind

Soy Un Americano

Written By: Bradley J. Mossman

Hey Mr. Policeman, why you lookin’ at me?
I can tell, you don’t like what you see
Hey Mr. Policeman, I got no papers on me
Hey Mr. Policeman, I was born in this country

Oh don’t you know
Soy un Americano

Hey Mr. Policeman, you tell me to turn around
You’re gonna arrest me -- suspicion of being brown
Hey Mr. Policeman, don’t point that gun at me
Hey Mr. Policeman, I got no papers to set me free

Oh don’t you know
Soy un Americano

I know what’s on your mind
Gonna send me down to the border line today
Gonna send me down to the border line so you can send me on my way

Hey Mr. Politician, por favor
Do you think my rights are yours to ignore?
Hey Mr. Politician, I’m not a pawn in your game
Hey Mr. Politician, that policeman feels the same

Oh don’t you know
Soy un Americano
