"Bio"

I remember at an early age how much I loved music, and being amazed at the sound of live instruments. A field trip to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra left me with a sense of awe as to the connection music can have in our lives. When I was in 4th grade my mom bought me my first guitar in Nashville, Tenn. from Woolworth’s. The first song that I learned to play was The House of the Rising Sun.
I started to focus on learning guitar and vocals in 1974 as I became acquainted with the music group Shadowfax. Keith Hinton, the lead guitarist, was my first music mentor. My brother Jim and I started a band called Windchange, I played guitar and sang lead vocals and Jim played bass. As time progressed my focus moved to lead vocals covering bands like Aerosmith, Hall & Oats, Boston, Led Zepplin etc. I started writing music in the mid 70’s and in the late 70’s spent a year touring professionally with the band Slave. We also toured with the Commodores , The Emotions, Bootsy’s Rubber Band, Ohio Players, and the O’Jays to name a few. Over the years I played in many different bands but certain muscians had a profound effect on my music foundation. Kevin Gwin being one who is an amazing lead guitarist and great friend. Around 1987 I picked up the guitar again and started writing songs. Over a time period of 7 years I became the father of 4 amazing children and decided to put most of my attention into being a Dad. As my kids grew I still had a consistent tug to write and play music. I started an outreach ministry with Jim Albert called Animation. I played with a lot of different musicians and did concerts for small and large crowds in the Ohio area as well as being part of a church choir. One thing lead to the next and I started leading worship and did that in several church’s. In 2007 I moved from West Chester Ohio to Columbia, SC for a life and job change.
The song Waiting on the other Side is about my son Nick, who passed away in 2007. I was blessed to have so many hours of his life by my side and cherish the time we had together.
I met Beth a couple of months after Nick passed away, a single mom with 3 wonderful kids. Beth became an inspiration for me of which several of the songs on Seasons Along the Way were written. It is because of her belief and encouragement that this project was completed.
The following is a list (not in order) of musicians I have played with over the years that have left a lasting impression in my music.
Keith Hinton, Jim Surovec, Kevin Gwin, Jeff Hill, Pam Snider, Tim Ketring, Zorin McGuire, Jim Albert, Chris Mills, Judy Surovec, Tim Yoder, Tim Dozier, Jeff Pierce, Ken Simpson, Mike Decurci, Steve Vaughn, Rochelle Schindler, Chris Tidestrom, Joe Cook and many others.
