Acoustic/Vocal, music reflects my passion about life and relationships. My music crosses many genre's ranging from Pop,Rock, Musical influences include Sting, Genesis, Yes, and John Mayer. I do a lot of original music as well as covers.

Biography

I remember at an early age how much I loved music and being amazed at the sound of live instruments. A field trip to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra left me with a sense of awe as to the connection music can have in our lives. When I was in 4th grade my mom bought me my first guitar in Nashville, Tenn. from Woolworth’s. The first song that I learned to play was The House Of The Rising Sun.

I started to focus on learning guitar and vocals in 1974 as I became acquainted with the music group Shadowfax. Keith Hinton, the lead guitarist, was my first music mentor. My brother Jim and I eventually started a band of our own called Windchange, I played guitar and sang lead vocals and Jim played bass. As time progressed my focus moved primarily to lead vocals covering bands like Aerosmith, Hall & Oats, Boston, Led Zepplin etc. I started writing music in the mid 70’s and in the late 70’s spent a year touring professionally with the band Slave. We also toured with the Commodores , The Emotions, Bootsy’s Rubber Band, Ohio Players, and the O’Jays to name a few. Over the years I played in many different bands but certain muscians had a profound effect on my music foundation. Kevin Gwin being one of them who is an amazing lead guitarist and great friend.

In 1983 and over a time period of 10 years I became the father of 4 amazing children and music became a smaller focus to being a Dad as well as a career change in 1981. As my kids grew my passion to write and play music resurfaced and in 1986 I started an outreach ministry with Jim Albert called Animation, playing concerts for small and large crowds in the Ohio area. In 2004 I started leading church worship and served in several churches. It was in 2007 that I moved from West Chester Ohio to Columbia, SC for a life and job change.

The song Waiting On The Other Side is about my son Nick, who passed away on October 4th 2008. I was blessed to have an amazing relationship with my son and cherish the time we had together.

I met Beth a couple of months after Nick passed away, a single mom with 3 wonderful kids. Beth became an inspiration for me of which several of the songs on Seasons Along The Way were written. It is because of her belief and encouragement that my career turned back to music and this project was completed.

The following is a list (not in order) of musicians I have played with over the years that have left a lasting impression in my music.

Keith Hinton, Jim Surovec, Kevin Gwin, Jeff Hill, Pam Snider, Tim Ketring, Zorin McGuire, Jim Albert, Chris Mills, Judy Surovec, Tim Yoder, Tim Dozier, Jeff Pierce, Ken Simpson, Mike Decurci, Steve Vaughn, Rochelle Schindler, Chris Tidestrom, Joe Cook and many others.

Thank you to all of my friends and family who have provided encouragement, inspiration and support as I pursue my career in music. I am excited to see what the future holds and look forward to the journey.

For a look in Your Eyes

For A Look in Your Eyes
words & music by Brad Surovec 1.9.2011

I’ve been thinking about the tyranny of the urgent
And how hectic life can be
And I’m thinking about the pulling in all directions
And demands life’s making on me
Yet the voice that I hear from the depths of my heart
Is calling the truth that I know
How can I run how could I hide
You’re in every moment seen with my eyes
You’re in every teardrop in every smile
Watching and waiting for a look in Your eyes

And I’ve been thinking about purpose and direction
And the things I’m supposed to be
And I call to You to help me find the answers
For the man You created in me
And standing in awe of Your mercy and grace
I think on the voice that I hear
How can I run how could I hide
You’re in every moment seen with my eyes
You’re in every teardrop in every smile

Tell me just how you can believe it doesn’t matter
When everything we know and see flows from the grace of God

Tell me How can I run how could I hide
You’re in every moment seen with my eyes
You’re in every teardrop in every smile

Tell Me How can I run how could I hide
You’re in every moment seen with my eyes
You’re in every teardrop in every smile
Watching and waiting for a look in Your eyes
for a look in Your eyes
