Biography

Brains has been existing since 1994. After some changes in the group, hopefully the final 5-membered combinations have been formed. Brains has signed the young and talented MC Columbo (GimmeShot Crew; KillerBreaks) as a new MC and forefront player.

In the dynamic music of the band several styles can be found such as Drum & Bass, Ragga, Dancehall, Dub, Rock, Ethno. This mixture might derive from the different musical taste of the group members.

The lyrics are written in English/Jamaican Patwa.

During the past 12 years we gave more than 500 shows in clubs, regularly on college-parties and on different festivals. We are regularly invited to all part of Europe (from The Netherlands, Belgium, England, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, to Czech Republic etc..). The most remarkable festival gigs were at: Sziget Festival, Pohoda Festival, Karneval der Kulturen, BNR Festival, Open Air St. Gallen, Bospop Festival, Leipzig Open Air and many others.

Brains played on the same stage with several well-known band around the world (from Asian Dub Foundation, Zion Train, Roni Size, to Dreadzone).

Many Brains songs are remixed all over in Europe by underground dj’s like SKC, Dj Super, Dj Palotai, Dj Psure, Dj Reza, Dj Zenit, Dj Marky, etc…

Two officinal sound materials have come out so far in Hungary in 97’ and in 98’, which were published by Crossroads Records Hungary.
The band published two other promotion materials in the year 2001 and in 2002. Independently we published our third album with the title of HUMANUAL in September 2006. The material contains 17 track including several guest mc and offer a brand new sound with an extremely miscellaneous and versatile musical experience from the drum & bass, ragga, dancehall, breakbeat to the rock). The album is available at main music stores, through the official website of the band and on live shows.

Press critics/ reviews:

--The guys are cheerful, young and dynamic. They are a strange mix of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Asian Dub Foundation, but it is something unique. They can be seen to enjoy what they do and what they do well!
Metal Hammer 2002 –

--The young absolutely fascinating BRAINS made a huge party and terrific atmosphere. At the concert of Szentendre party-band thousands of people were entertained by their modern, mixed-styled, rather danceable music. Keep it up!
Wanted 2003’—

--It was an amazing live act. The five incredible talented young fellows press their energy directly to the people’s mind during the one hour show, causing a zealot effect among the supporters in the entire tent. Drum & Brains is cool…….
Underground Magazine Italy 2004’—

--This band is damned good, finally a talented group with a dynamic and dashing style from Central Europe…
