BandRockAcoustic

fun acoustic rock with an edge and a realistic yet positive view on life, love, and all the philosophies in between. music pulls from classic rock, blues, folk, funk, and pop. basically if the Who went to Cat Stevens' restaurant and had lunch with Dave Matthews... i would be the main course. what?

Biography

who writes in 3rd person on these things? i like to keep grounded by making sure that my music is exactly that - all about the music. none of this gilded prose or BS image crap that makes me out to be something i'm not. here's my story: 5 years ago, i moved from sunny california to arkansas, in the southern heart of america, to get a college degree. determined to see a different perspective of life, i discovered the best way to capture my thoughts on life was through songwriting, and i promptly picked up the guitar. 5 years later, after obtaining a degree and a year into my professional business career, i had a quarter-life crisis and on an impulse, quit my job, gave away everything i owned that wouldn't fit in my truck, and moved out to california. i slept on relatives' and friends' floors until i found a place with an old friend from high school in Los Angeles. This is where the real journey begins: to find out just how far the dream takes me, and just how good my music really is...

Lyrics

die tomorrow

Written By: brandon m.

Someone Told me “you’ve got so much to live for”
And it then occurred to me I hadn’t ever really heard this before
I sat and thought about it, oh for a minute or three
Then I asked her “what does it all mean?”

You can be anything you want to
But where it lies is in what you do

Live today like you’ll die tomorrow
Dream like you will live forever

You can move mountains with the smallest faith
And you can work your whole life, to rid the world of hate
And you could give all your money away
And you can be the hero that saves the day

Live today like you’ll die tomorrow
Dream like you will live forever

impressions

Written By: brandon m.

He said “my life is like a song, that is yet to be written
It’s like an open ended story that is still without an end”
But the role that he’s been given is the role that he receives
It’s almost enough to make him scream
He can try and fight, but in the end

He may as well be what they say he is
‘cause it’s never ever going to change
You get one chance to make a first impression
And it can’t be taken back

She said “I’d like to play this game with some fairer rules instead”
She says her heart is an open book with a chapter no one read
She says “I believe in one thing, but I’m so much more than that”
And the judgment passed feels like a stab in the back
She can try and fight, but in the end

We may as well be what they say we are
‘cause it’s never ever going to change
You get one chance to make your own impressions
So don't ever give that back

waste the day

Written By: brandon m.

I woke up this morning, tired as hell
Didn’t sleep last night, I’d rather sleep all day
But I got this job, it’s keeping me down
And I’m just wastin’ away

So I said to myself “there must be some other way
To make a decent day’s pay”
‘cause if life’s for the livin, then I’m just missin out
It just ain’t fun livin life this way

We work so hard to make some money
But then it all just drains away
It all just seems so temporary
We might as well just waste the day

So they say this life is for a reason
Some they say it’s all just a test
Me? I don’t see the difference
We all just got to do our best

We work so hard to make some money
But then it all just drains away
It all just seems so temporary
We might as well just waste the day

Set List

A typical set for me would be around 45 minutes to an hour (though I could play all night if they'd let me) with 6 originals and 2 covers. i have written over 30 songs, so songs played vary often with the constant usually being "die tomorrow" (one of my originals). Every once in awhile i'll throw in a Doobie Brothers or Steve Miller band classic, or maybe a current pop hit (like a justin timberlake cover spoof) just for fun. Basically anything that gets people smiling & having fun.
