"Brandon Meyer Trio"

Characterized by tight musicianship, pensive lyrics, boundless energy and a knack for captivating all audiences, the members of the Brandon Meyer Trio are careful not to limit themselves or their sound to the idea of being boxed in by a specific placement among current day genres. Mixing a band and Bob Dylan and Hendrix- esque singer/ songwriter style the band stays true to the demand of a solid and draw dropping live performance that audiences within the Philly music scene have come to expect from local talents.

The Trio who is lead vocalist and guitarist Brandon Meyer, bassist Phil D'Agostino and drummer Sarab Singh is the new project of Brandon Meyer's whose professional music career and experience dates back to as long as six years ago. The defining qualities the newly formed three piece exhibits is their motivation and dedication to the sound they call their own which has drawn influences from a wide spectrum of musical influences including tones of jazz and classical genres and hard rock roots.

The Brandon Meyer Trio is currently finishing an eight track debut album which they have been recording in the Washington D.C. area. Entitled 'Rise Up, Make a Fist and Say Hello,' the album is set to be released sometime within the next week and will be kicked off by a CD release party at the Khyber on Oct. 12 followed by the embarking of the band on an intense regional touring schedule throughout the area. "Eclectic trio showcases influences on new CD"

By Karen Walcott, for the CDT

Brandon Meyer, guitarist and principal songwriter of Philadelphia's Brandon Meyer Trio, acknowledges that his band has grown with its diverse influences.

"Guitarists -- from Jimi Hendrix to jazz's Al Di Meola -- and songwriters like Elliott Smith and Bob Dylan" are the most prevalent, he said.

The trio, which features drummer Sarab Singh and bassist Phil D'Agostino, completed the CD while on its current tour.

"We went down and cut it on weekends in D.C.," Meyer said.

As part of the tour, the band will perform tonight in State College.

Meyer said the live shows are a separate entity from the CD.

"We're road testing new music. Every night, we're testing new songs for our next CD," he said.

"Russian Bride," a track from the band's debut CD, "Rise Up, Make a Fist, Say Hello," starts off as a rock song with extended electric guitar riffs, but then it slides into a long trumpet solo. Meyer described it as a "flamenco/mariachi interlude." The Spanish sound was a pleasant surprise and quickly made "Bride" my favorite track on the disc.

The CD reflects the trio's eclectic style. "Janis," a slow song with a soft acoustic guitar is before "I Saw the Rain," with heavy electric guitar riffs.

In the spirit of the season, the trio will perform in Halloween costumes.

Rising fast and quickly turning heads on the East Coast live music scene is the eclectic and experimental Philadelphia-based rockers, the Brandon Meyer Trio. Marked by outstanding chops, catchy and complex compositions, avant-garde songwriting, thought-provoking lyrics, and a penchant for blinding improvisation, the band has been leaving audiences jaw-dropped with every recent performance. Fusing elements of hard rock, jazz, folk, funk and reggae, the all-encompassing Trio leaves no musical stone unturned, yet does it all in their own unique and original sound.

The brainchild of guitarist, singer and songwriter Brandon Meyer, the band features the uber-tight and rock solid rythm section of Sarab Singh on drums and Phil D'Agostino on basses, leaving for an all-out musical assault that suggests more instrumentation than just an ordinary Trio. The Philly-area natives formed just under a year ago, but in their short and productive time together have already performed on some of the finer stages in the Mid-Atlantic, including NYC's Knitting Factory and their hometown's own World Cafe Live, Khyber, North Star, and Grape Street.

The band recently completed their debut album, a self-produced effort entitled 'Rise Up, Make a Fist, Say Hello,' featuring 8 of the band's favorites and a few brand-new originals. On the heels of the new record, the band will be performing throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast throughout the fall and winter 2006, continuing into the new year with their most ambitious touring schedule to date.

In the meantime, go catch them at a town near you. You won't be disappointed.
