On one hand the word star can be defined as any of the heavenly bodies appearing as fixed luminous points in the sky at night; on the other hand the word star can be defined as a person who is celebrated or distinguished in some art, profession, or other field. In the world of hip-hop there are rappers, emcees, and then there are those rare individuals, whose talent and voice illuminate the culture in such a manner that they deserve to be called nothing less than a star. Off the shores of Lake Michigan in the city of Chicago, a new star is arising and he goes by the name of BRANDO S.T.A.R. With intriguing versatility and an energetic yet highly poetic lyrical style, Brando sets himself apart from his counterparts. Living up to his name, this Chitown emcee is poised to shine some new light on the game with his soon-to-be-released debut album co-produced by Emilio Bucks on LateShift Musik.

Born and Raised on the notoriously popular south side streets of the Windy City, Brando was no stranger to adversity, struggle, and fortunately the culture of hip-hop. Affectionately known to his single mom, handicapped sister, and older brother as Bleek, he would learn about life’s ups, downs, smiles, and frowns from the situations surrounding their household. Picking up the arts of graffiti and break dancing from his brother, Brando would take it one step further by adding writing and rhyming to his repertoire. As Brando began to make a name for himself in the community his mom became ill with cancer, forcing him to move downstate with his brother to finish high school. Having to virtually fend for himself, just like many other youth caught up in the struggle, Brando began to hustle. Fortunately his hustling led to opportunity rather than the alternative, as he made connections with the likes of Teddy Riley, Eric Sermon, Redman, and Keith Murray. After barely missing a deal with Bad Boy Entertainment, Brando moved back to Chicago in 1995 to not only hone his skills as an emcee, but to also increase his knowledge of the business.

Since those days it is has been strictly business as Brando as gone from rapping on the famous Chicago “L” train for money to holding down venues with the likes of Spearhead, Crucial Conflict, Common, Dave Mathews Band, and Herbie Hancock just to name a few. He has also recorded with world-renowned artist, Kanye West. He is truly a star amongst stars, as he has toured with the world famous Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus where he created a hip-hop street team geared toward inner city children. His swagger, intellect, and voice have led him to the historic streets of Italy, the Alps of Switzerland, and the metropolis of London.

Influenced by his upbringing, his travels, and such predecessors as Common, Nas, Big L, 2pac, Biggie, Snoop, and Outkast, this south side renaissance emcee is the lab with producer Emilio Bucks sculpting a masterpiece that captures the essence of his many facets. With joints like the inspirational anthem, "Stand Up," the street banger, "The Game," and the freakishly sensual, “Sexy Girlfriend,” Brando is ready to shine some well-needed light on hip-hop. Many like to speculate the that culture may be dying out but there is a celebrated person distinguished in the art of rhyming on the horizon ready to illuminate the genre. That aforementioned person is more than a rapper; he is a star, BRANDO S.T.A.R!
