Where to begin? It was the summer of 2001, when the musical paths of BRASSTAX began to converge. Singer songwriter T.S. Hibbs had been playing harmonica since 1989, a pastime he picked up after his older brother enlisted. Floating from one garage band to another,he eventually settled in as lead singer/harmonica player for a local, moderately successful, original act, cofounded by his brother-in-law. It was that summer when the blues/rock foundations for what was to come were laid. Calling themselves Stone River, they teamed up with a local drummer and bass player and began playing parties and bars in the north central West Virginia area. Soon after a fortunate sequence of unforseeable events led them to the talents of accomplished bassist Baltimore George. Baltimores rock solid bass rhythms blew the doors open for some unbelieveable rock & roll jams, and his presence brought a new found maturity to the band. It quickly became obvious that this band would outgrow the garage, and with the addition of Dirtbag Dave Mathews, a former bandmate of Baltimores on drums, they were poised to do just that. As the band matured, so did Hibbs' songwritng, The band was renamed BRASSTAX to symbolize a desire to get to the bottomline of issues facing our society. Armed with an arsenal of original music that was built to entertain, BRASSTAX is ready.
